I wonder if there will be an effort to "Dixie Chick" people like Bruce |

Springsteen and Dave Matthews, for campaigning against the emperor...
Their fan base doesn't rely on wingnuts nearly as much as country music does now.
Also, I really sense a backlash in sentiment against the Clear Channel crappification of radio in America, even among many Republicans.
Anyone who likes good music realizes that the homogenized playlists of monopoly radio is not good for American music.

1. It didn't really work on the Chicks either. |
|
They still sold out their tour and their album went back up into the top 10 after the controversy and stayed there for many months after the controversy - and that was with almost ZERO corporate radio play.
Don't believe the hype about "dixie-chicking".
Willie Nelson hates Dumbya too, and he's not going away.
And yeah, Clear Channel is Krapola.

rethugs, they are "re-tooling". They are going back to using the names of who ever it is they bought out. In my area, Toby Keith's concert (at the Tacoma Dome, I believe) is brought to you by "Bill Graham Entertainment".

Some bonehead urged a boycott of Springsteen albums a while back, long before his most recent appearances on behalf of Kerry.
The worst they can do to Springsteen is delay his Kennedy Center Honor. That's it. The guy will be fine as long as there's any recording or video of his music and people with the passion to enjoy it.

5. Good point. That one Chick actually blasted the chimp pretty good. |

I'm not into country music, but after she laid it on the imbecile, I started listening to some of their stuff. It's much better than I ever could've imagined it would be.

Buy all their albums. There are no bad ones, although I dearly love Fly the most, I guess.

long before the mainstream knew who they were. I don't think it'll hurt him or Springsteen... if anything it will just galvanize the love their fans already have for them. IMO

The Dixie Chicks were members of the ultra-Republican Nashville scene. Big no-no to diss the Prez.
Springsteen, on the other hand, belongs to the rock scene, and has long travelled in liberal circles, hanging out with the likes of Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt, to name a few. That generation has long been known for left-leaning activism. I doubt few were surprised about Springsteen's support for Kerry. If they were, I doubt they ever listened to Springsteen's music.
Time has treated the Dixie Chicks relatively well. They are still successful, and the controversy allowed them to ditch the restrictive country scene and branch out toward rock radio (namely the increasingly popular 'Triple A' format). They don't need Nashville.

9. The nice thing about having power is there's little they can do to you. |

Being a superstar money-maker for the industry, and beloved by fans, conveys a lot of power.
