I would advise Dur's not to use real names... |
|
I know in the moment of such a crisis of unseen proportions rivaling that of 9/11 on November 2 2004, many people get caught in the moment of false courage and bravado unlike anything they have ever experienced...
I myself loved the thread that held so many names but then again, I am no threat. I read many saying let them come get me, they cannot get us all, well, I have news for you, they don't need to round you up all at one time. They can easily find your weak spots and take you down systematically before you realize what hit you..
It is not paranoia my friends, I know these people, I know the way they think. This may sound cliche, but, They cannot be reasoned, they do not feel pity or remorse, and they absolutely will not stop until you are dead or they win, whichever comes first...
Fighting together in front of cameras for all the world to see is one thing, leaving yourselves so open without ones to watch your back is asking for serious trouble...
Please, I am not trying to down some of you, I am oil. I am Texas, I know these minds. They are devious and ruthless, do not go into battle alone and without the armor you need to protect you in a war that will surely not be fought fair...
No offense my friends. Just some friendly advice...

4. Yes that is true as well, the thing is, one must surely be careful |
|
of letting their passionate anger overide their good sense, who is to say they don't come after you personaly, they can easily find out all they need to know about you, it could be your daughter, your son, your wife, a special friend that they will use against you. They don't play fair, and your on target with the fact that their are ones that can and have used isps to trace someone they wish to mess with...
Just be careful please...Kerry will not come to your rescue if he has no idea that you were even targeted...

38. This thread topic shows you how far democracy has fallen in this |
|
country. The second amendment is alive and well; one doesnt have to worry about being known to possess a lethal weapon. But the first amendment is on life-support; one needs to worry about what one says and where. Sad truth.

but it is not just me that I have to worry about...and well, my husband is a full nutcase faux loving b*** loving zealout of extreme proportions..he just does not display this character flaw of his too often in front of me, so therefore, I am not much of a threat seeing as he is the head of this household, I know what many of you will think, but I don't follow him around like some lap dog, I just was not that interested in politics though I have always cared for my fellow American, raising my large brood kept my mind occupied for years and I do have regrets.....

6. Most of us, they already know about. |
|
Those who have written LTTE's, those who have made public statements, those who have marched in peace rallys or helped organize GOTV or Meetups, those who have participated in this forum for any length of time...
If you aren't sure, check your personal FBI file under FOIA. I've seen mine several times, and if "they" didn't already know I was a raging liberal and potential gadfly dissenter should this country slip into a facist dictatorship, then someone lost my file, or I haven't been actively political enough.

for getting one of my anti-DeLay rants published as a LTTE in the Houston Chronicle. If they keep a list, I was already on it. :)
Linking my Chronicle letter to DU poster with a history of blurting things like, "had a blast volunteering at the Morrison campaign today!" and "Please call the ethics committee to take action on DeLay complaint!" shouldn't really come as a shock to anyone.

They've already gotten one member here fired, and don't think they'll stop there.
The feds - bah. They could find us anyway, without that thread. Still, it was inspiring to read and good to know we're not going to take it sitting down.

13. Nice line from terminator 1 |
|
"They cannot be reasoned with, they do not feel pity or remorse and they absolutely will not stop until you are dead." :-)
I would love to know, from skinner, how many of us have had our details requested by the homeland nazi's. Fair warning that many folks on DU have already been investigated would be interesting to know. My seeing, is that the Nazi-SS keep a list of us "subversive" writers who dissent, and have already run full traces on our lives, names or no.
Frankly, were i living in CONUS, i don't think i would write on DU for fear of the very retribution you mention, which makes it all that much more important that americans outside of the CONUS-NAZI-network speak up.
I expect, as well, that the editor, in which we all type, keeps a full record of all keystrokes typed, including those "erased", and that this entire log has been handed to the NAZI-SS, or that they trap the log as it passes through internet servers to the DU server.
Thank you for you wise advise on inaccessability.

I am geared up for a fight, but my method is different then physical. I used to practice meditation. I'm a very strong dream master. What do I mean by dream master? Well when I was in practice I could achieve a dream state in less then 10 minutes. I'm out of practice now, however there is still a lot of techniques that I know.
Mind over matter was one of those things I used to study on my own body. I would shock my system with ice cold water to see if I could physically change my body temperature. I'm one of the few people in Texas that could during 20 degree weather go outside in shorts and short sleeve shirts.
I know many won't understand this, but I believe when I die the world will die. Here is the reason why I have that logic: We see from a single prospective. Together we are a collective, but alone we are just one. I see the world through my own eyes and not everyone else's eyes. This means to me the world is birth and death. To me when I die I won't see this world anymore. This is why the world will die when I die in that prospective.

49. Interesting theory on the aftermaths of death, I don't have the patience |
|
or the quietness that would be needed to experience such bliss as being unaware for even two seconds....
As for your not living any longer on this earth once you pass on, take into account all those you leave behind, the memories of you I am sure will be treasured by some, pictures etc..therefore, if you think about it, in some essence, you don't leave this world, you linger, perhaps in a state of unawareness but linger you shall even if in memory alone...

I agree with your main point.
Also, I think the more public a person is with the truth, the less at-risk that individual is. It becomes too obvious to kill them, ever since JFK. (half-kidding)
But you are right to point out that every person should consider the reality that they risk being tracked down from their name.
If it weren't for my belief in a continuance of spirit after death, I would not have risked using my real name. Because of my spiritual beliefs and what I anticipate about death and the life of the spirit afterward -- more power to them if they off me. Or, more power to us, I really mean.
But something else you said intrigued me. I was wondering if you could PM me? Your is set to bounce.

Every few minutes in the conversation I'd yell, "Do you HEAR ME, John Ashcroft? KISS MY ASS!" Just in case he WAS listening. We laughed our butts off. Try it ... it's cathartic.

They may be able to trace to non-US ip addresses, and may know identities, but to perform a shakedown, they need to convince a foreign country that an internet blogger is such a danger to national security that extradition is warranted. As I expect no DU'ers are really the "enemy", then the threat of police shakedowns is really just a thuggery tactic used inside the US states.
Sadly the people with the fewest rights are those inside US borders.

Keep moving from cave to cave, and don't ever use the same IP provider twice or they'll stalk you.
In all honesty, any serious "hunter" of terrorists knows that no real actor will sign on to a board to jaw jaw jaw, when they could just blow up bombs. If i had chosen that path in life, you would never have ever heard a word from me, as i would have remained "covert". That these people have spoken up, they are clearly willing to talk talk, and put violent means aside... and every word you type on DU, is no violence done... so they pretty much know that nobody here is a threat...
Rather the concern is not the security forces, that don't bother with false positives like "us", it is the republican secret police, the secret freeper mafia that works for bush, just like those thugs work for the ayatollah in iran... people who are "set loose" to destroy other people who oppose political approaches.
Those folks are generally amateurish, and like car thieves, look for the easiest car to break in to... so i agree with the thread starter in this regard... setting yourself up as an easy mark leaves open a certain door for the GOP-nazi-christians to subvert your life, your credit rating, your good name, your job, your kids as those folks have no limits on their crimes given what they've done so far.

Like use one email address for political stuff not connected to your real name (for instance, don't use it on a petition where you put your real name and email address), and DON'T use it for anything else. You don't want people to be able to Google it and find out about other aspects of your life.

Maybe I am trying to scare some, I can't help it, many of you people are wonderful beautiful caring people and I just hate to see anyone of you hurt in anyway because of a dangerous zealout....
If you had heard some of the horrific deadly rhetoric that I have straight from the horses mouth so to speak, perhaps you would understand why I fear for some of you...
They don't play fair, remember that, and they don't ever work alone, they like thier games to be known by at least one person, otherwise the importance they feel at what they see as doing someone else a good deed goes unknown....
And they do like a bit of noteriety...
They stole this election, but in their eyes they won and they don't take kindly to someone raising a rucus that might endanger their false security...
I agree that they would not go after everyone unless the threat is huger than one anticpates, but they will pick and choose, it's their style...

52. I was already out there. |
|
C-Span even pointed out my location. They know who we are anyway. they really do. When we registered dem or independent we were not with them. I thank you for this thread though, as some were not already out there.

Hey, "they" can find us easier than they can find OBL.
I appreciate the post by the person above you who worries for others in terms of everyday radicals harming people. At this point, I worry for those of you who live in those kinds of areas ... SO FAR, I'm in a liberal, peaceful area; not many radical righties around here.
The worst case scenario for me would be the FEDS., like in being shipped to ... a gulag somewhere.

53. They have TOTAL INFORMATION AWARENESS |
|
Read up on the Office of Strategic Information's Total Information Awareness project. They said they cancelled it. Right. http://www.thememoryhole.org/policestate/iao/iao-original.htmAnd here is exactly how they figure out who you are and what you are doing and how they will get to you:

54. As much as the "My Name Is..." was charming in a time of... |
|
...sadness and uncertainty, I'm sure the freepers (et al) took down all the names and are searching for addl info about the posters.
Our anonymity at this point is crucial, if we're going to take the fight underground.
Just call me "X..."

it WAS charming. I felt sad that I couldn't join in without paranoia.

57. AuntPatsy i agree with you. |

It's a good idea to keep a screen name on here or any other chat/forum type thing. I too gave my real name and in that case i don't regret it. Sometimes we have to take risks, but in general we should not give out too much information. It's not just freepers we have to protect ourselves from.

no way would I put my real name down. I am not worried about the FBI, though that is no fun. I am worried about the weirdos and RW freaks who have nothing better to do than post your name and address and phone number (which they can easily get once they know your name) on every neo-nazi board in the universe.
