Poll question: Breaking it Down: Moderate/Bold Progressive? Be like Rove?
I think what we are hashing out is a basic question of stratagey. Personally, I think what ever direction we choose (bold progressive or southern moderate) we should follow Karl Rove. Yes, we should learn from Karl Rove.

We should have a simply two prong message about the weaknesses of our opponents and a coinciding mirror image of our nominee's strengths and than hammer it home over and over and over from THE BEGINNING. In other words, a consistant unified attack. Here is what they did to Kerry:

Themes:

1. Kerry is weak on terrorism. Bush is strong on terrorism.
2. Kerry flip flops. Bush is decisive.

Everytime Bush said he was decisive it made the public automatically think of Kerry's weakness because it was already driven home.

Kerry's themes:

How many can you count? 25? 100?

The public can't chew on more than three!

Do you agree that we need to follow Karl Rove and should we pick a southern moderate or a bold progressive?

1. We must keep it simple for ourselves and smear them to pulp

2. Kerry was the ideal candidate, if only he had stuck to HIS ideals
I don't know about anyone else, but when he would spout that moderate stuff, or when he'd try to talk around some of his liberal comments, i'd say "he's just trying for the swing vote, he'll stay true to his roots in office"

4. A southern progressive? Guess I could have included more...
options. :-) "Other" isn't always good for status.
