We are the majority, we will restore DEMOCRACY to the US
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 03:16 PM by DianeG5385
After all we ARE DEMOCRATS!!

1. Repub mods must be convinced to vote w/ the dems to keep the prez in check. We need to identify every mod repub and have an honest discussion about what is happening to this country. They can stay pub, just must vote w/ the dems in the best interest of our country. (Appeal to their patriotism)

2. It's not okay to NOT fight for our core issues which are to preserve The New Deal, the GI Bill, the Civil Rights legislation, The Great Society (Medicare). These programs made America great and gave us the middle class the pubs want to take down. I suggest we focus on fighting like dogs to preserve these programs. (Learn to talk in little sentences.)

3. Shout a little and make noise. That's what righteous, outraged people do. We need a few powerpoint presentations to show the average citizen just what has happened to their paycheck and how worthless their tax cut is.( Again, brief and punchy to gain effect. Don't go on and on. Pretend this is a presentation for the BOD. They don't want details even though we dems are obsessed w/ them. Kinda like the truth)

4. We need to get a little paranoid, kinda like we sound sometimes on this forum, conveying the URGENCY of addressing our issues!(Stress fear(I'm just kidding but this started to sound a little republicanny))

5. We are committed to social justice for ALL and that is NOT negotiable. I could care less what the religious whackos think, they are the ones who have to evaluate their beliefs just as we are doing now. If they are unmovable, we leave them in the dust. We are about justice for ALL!

5a. I do not think we should work with Bush and it looked weak when Pelosi said it was time to work together for the good of our country. I took that as code for we'll give you what you want. I'm sorry, but I don't want MY rep supporting stuff we don't believe in just to "get along". If need be, we need to get some hair on fire fighters back in Congress. DLC won us the presidency w/ Clinton but I believe DLC cost us the war. Why vote for republican lite when you can have the real thing??? ( Note: We have to STAND for something and make sure the public "gets it". This needs to start today once we have distilled our message)

6. We are just as savvy at economic and fiscal issues, lately I think even more so than the reputation the undeserving pubs have as fiscal guardians but have a penchant for sloppy spending, as if they had an unlimited expense account! We need to get our economic sharks out on tv making alot of noise.

7. We need to seriously investigate and uncover just exactly is going on in this most secretive of administrations and expose it to the light of day. Don't expect the corporate shills we call the media to get their overpaid lazy asses out there and actually report the news. They got their meal ticket and social life to protect. It will take an independent effort. We need to expose, expose, expose!!!

8. Never use republican terms such as "frame the debate" even if that's what we're doing. In fact, don't respond to their ideological crap other than to dismiss it as a little loony!! Responding to it just gives it credibility. Ignore their nonsense and focus on our message. We need tigers!!

Any thoughts?

4. thanks for a great post
after seeing too many posts today dragging down the party I'm delighted to see a thinker willing to look forward and explore new ideas.

I LOVE your suggestion on "frame the message". I'd not thought about it that way before. "Framing the message" is looney secret handshake talk and we should treat it that way. We're not gonna frame the message, we're gonna just say it out loud.

Thanks.

5. Thank you!
I think we must think America first as we go about our days and not allow ourselves to be co-opted by the other side. That's what they have been doing for ten years. We didn't fight then but we must fight like hell now. I live in CA, Kerry easily won but when I saw the county electoral map it was clear we have alot of work to do to make sure CA stays blue!!! We CANNOT assume we will always be blue, we must start with inland CA and work out from there. Any on the board in these counties???
