World Opinion: Christian=Mean Spirited Idiots

For all you people who have actually READ the bible and believe those passages blessing the peacemakers, those who care for the meek and downtrodden etc.; you have my condolances.

The rest of the world is quickly getting the message from CNN et. al. that if you are a "Christian" you are an idiot, a warmonger and a threat to everyone else. The news, even NPR, is screaming about how "Christians" elected George W. Bush as AmeriKa's president.

This is how they might see it:

"Christians have starved Iraq for twelve years and are now murdering the population in the name of freedom (oil). Women and children not in the least excepted.

Christains re-elected a president who appears to be an idiot when asked a complex question and can barely speak his mother tounge. The rest of the worlds leaders are usually at LEAST bilingual.

Christains re-elected a president who has lost jobs for his nation.

Christians are in favor of corporate control of the worlds health care.

Christians do not understand or care about the benefits of science.

Christians are in favor of threatening them with nuclear weapons.

Christians support a shift in tax burdens from the wealthy to the poor.

Christians do not support fair wages for workers. Nevermind the story about not muzzling the ox that treads the grain.

Christians cannot manage their finances and are forever in debt."

Well I could go on and on but let me just say that the majority of the world is not even close to "Christian" in the AmeriKan sense of the word. The worlds most populous religion is Islam. Even most followers of Christ worldwide are Catholic, Orthodox, or otherwise non-evangelical types. Nevertheless the cause of true christians has taken a huge beating this week.

Again my apologies to those who work for the betterment of others in the name of Christ. I am concerned with perceptions being currently pushed. Perception always differs from reality.

1. "Christian" soldiers are now praying to their deity

to look out for them as they prepare to MURDER untold numbers of uppity "sand-niggers" who are to them nothing more than "Satan's horde."

Ask any one of them, "WHY are you bothering these people?"

Spare the rod and spoil the child. Or just plain old ostracism because they dared ask questions in Sunday school that were difficult to answer. Many were told they were condemned to hell for being the people they were born to be.

Many are still told they should be beaten, tortured or executed for "sins" related to their sexuality.

It's nothing Christ would recognize. A man who stopped the stoning of an adulterous woman.

They're FUNDAMENTALISTS! They've insidiously replaced a negatively connotative word--Fundamentalist-- with the positively connotative 'evangelical'.

Something like 33% of the world's population is Christian; Muslims are a little over 19%.

There are approximately as many Catholics as their are Muslims.

It is easily the largest belief system on earth. Hinduism is third.
