3. Iraq insurgency larger than previously thought |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 10:04 PM by LynnTheDem
...the insurgency in Iraq is led by well-armed Sunnis angry about losing power, not foreign fighters... http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2004-07-08-insurgency-count_x.htmEven Faux Moos reports facts now & then: Civilian analysts generally agreed, saying U.S. and Iraqi officials have long overemphasized the roles of foreign fighters and Muslim extremists. Such positions support the Bush administration's view that the insurgency is linked to the war on terror. A closer examination paints most insurgents as secular Iraqis angry at the presence of U.S. and other foreign troops.http://216.239.39.104/search?q=cache:WoYa3xyf6yYJ:www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,125140,00.html+Iraq+insurgency+larger+than+previously+thought&hl=en

5. No kidding, huh. They had to do a "closer examination" to figure this out |
|
It's that American superiority complex; any nation should feel HONORED to be invaded & occupied by The Great Americans.
Funny how they never are.

7. Don't believe the lies |
|
This is all lies. The only ones who are dying are foreign fighters and evil, murderous terrorists, the ones that deserve to die. The Iraqis are happy we got rid of Saddam for them. We're there to protect Iraqis from these thugs and tyrants and murderers and bring them democracy and a better, glorious future. We're building schools, hospitals, power plants, and are revitalizing the nation's infrastructure. Things are going to turn out okay because we're there.
(If you can't detect irony, I'm sorry for you ;) )

This has been one of my pet peeves with the media since this all started.
THEY are not insurgents. They are citizens of the country that WE unlawfully invaded under false pretenses. In point of fact, they actually have more legal right to fight us than we had to fight England in our own revolutionary war.
This has been bubbling around in my mind for quite a while now, this issue of our own revolution. Growing up in and around Philadelphia, we were steeped in the American revolution and its history, and there are sooooooo many mouthbreathers (read: Bush supporters) who seem to have either forgotten the history of the founding of this country, or were simply never taught about it in the first place.
Given the average IQ in the red states, and the growing interest in home schooling, I know which theory I'm leaning toward.

10. King George called US revolutionaires "INSURGENTS & TRAITORS" |
|
Which, of course, is exactly what they were. And had they lost, they all would have been hung as traitors.

12. Thats exactly my point |
|
The U.S. revolutionaries WERE traitors in legal terms.
The Iraqis are citizens of a sovereign nation which was unlawfully invaded. They have every right to take up arms against us. But, ya know, as long as we don't teach half of our country the facts, then the media and Bushco can just push the idea that THEY are the insurgents, and who's going to bitch??
Just one of about a million things the STUPID half of America has fallen for that really chaps my ass.
