Tell me how any candidate can beat Hillary to the nomination if she runs
What will be their strategy?

Because they won't be running against Hillary. They will also be running against Bill Clinton. He will put ever fiber in his being into the race and be like a second appendage to Hillary.

Bill Clinton will be right by her side campaigning, everywhere she goes, he will be there reminding voters how good it was when he was president and that they can have those times again if his wife becomes president.

We don't have a better speaker who connects with people and our issues than Bill Clinton. People will think if we vote for Hillary, we get a "two-for-one" deal. At worst, Bill Clinton will be first husband and an important adviser to Hillary. At best, Hillary will give him a prominent cabinet position such as Secretary of State. Either way, Bill Clinton will be involved in any Hillary administration in a big way.

Hillary will be a rockstar with Bill Clinton campaigning for her running against a field of "no-names" who will look diminutive in comparison.

It'll just be like the Arnold Governor election. Democrats will vote for the "star." Liberal women will say it's about damn time we had a female president and vote for her in droves. Blacks and minorities who think of Bill Clinton as the "first black president" will vote for her in droves. They love her.

I just don't see any way a democratic candidate can run against both Bill and Hillary and win.

They suck up all the oxygen in any race. They will crush them.

2. The ground work of "Hate Hillary" was laid by the Repubs years ago.
We'll never overcome it. They'll never give her a chance.

3. that wasn't the question
I'm asking if she runs, how will anyone stop her from getting the nomination?

Will all the other candidates just gang pile and bash her like republicans and try to take her out that way?

If they do, it'll piss a lot of clinton party supporters and they'll fight back.

Bill Clinton knows where all the skeletons are. They'll play dirty if they have to.

4. Have you ever asked any of these Southern "Hilary Haters" WHY they
hate her so? Texas is filled with them but I can't for the life of me discern a concrete reason for the hate.

The obvious one to me, is the bigoted one where they hate a strong intelligent woman.

I'm not decided in my own mind one way or another whether Hilary would be a good Dem candidate for Prez. But I find the "Hilary Hate" in places like TX where I am quite offensive.

5. that's exactly the reason
bigoted men are intimidated by strong intelligent women.

To them, a woman's place belongs in the kitchen.

6. I've never been given a reason either. It began as soon as Clinton
took office and she spoke out on something other than what color the green room is.

I think you're right, they hate strong intelligent women.

15. No, They don't hate strong women, they hate liberal women.
Almost any conservative can rattle off a list of strong conservative women that they admire. They do have some in prominent places. Just because we don't like their politics doesn't mean that they are weak women.

7. If Hill gets the nomination we may as well forget about 2008
because she will lose more states than Kerry.

The GOP has so demonized her that she could never win outside of solid blue strongholds. The Clintons have a lot of baggage, and she doesn't have Bill's charisma to get over the negatives like he does.

Bu most importanly, we need new blood and new leadership. This party needs drastic change. And political dynasties are not what the founding fathers intended.

But your correct, it will be difficult to stop her. The media will go nuts over the chance to cover a Jeb/Hillary showdown, and the GOP will undoubtly assist somehow (the way they help Nader) to make sure she gets it. It's going to be tough, but if we want to have a chance in 2008, we must find a way to convince her not to run.

12. I don't think it's because she's doing anything right
from a political standpoint.

I think they hate her because she is a strong, modern woman who threatens their sense of what a woman supposed to be (a stepford wife). They think she's a "bitch" who is out of her "place". That is what really pisses them off, more than anything having to do with politics or ideology.

Unless we write off a lot of the red states. People are not forgetting what he did in the oval office, and they do not like it. I sort of thought folks were over it, but it lingers here.....the elections reminded the right wing radio nuts here and they started all over again.

14. Change the primary calender for one.
Stop having Iowa and New Hampshire pick our nominee. Have a cross-section of states like Ohio, New York, Oklahoma, California, etc. have their primaries first.

are media whores and low post count DU posters. I heartily hope that she DOESN'T run. I can't think of a quicker way to kill off the Democratic party for all time, so forgive me if I tend to question the intentions of those who bring it up.

If Clinton hasn't seen the writing on the wall, and isn't toeing the line, he'll be a historical footnote. No way is Hillary going to get the nom unless she gets it for a third party splinter group that retains the rights to the term "Democratic Party"

and what happened to the 250 minimum to post?

19. The electability issue
She is a very polarizing figure and everyone knows it. Does she ahve any chance of carrying any red states? This is the same thing that happened to Janet Reno when she ran for Governor of Florida. She lost to a virtual unknown in the primary becasue Democratic voters deemed that she was too polalizing a figure thus unelectable.

lost the election because he didn't energize democratic voters to turn out.

Reno would have had a better chance.

Also, Reno was a terrible speaker who looked sickly because of her parkinson's disease.

31. Repugs will impoverish themselves in contributions AGAINST her
Hillary would be the biggest fund-raiser for the history of the Republican party - ever. She certainly knows that she can never should run for that very reason. The money they make off her campaign would enable them to defeat every Democrat in every race in every state, from dogcatcher to senator.

Have a penis.

Before you start the flamethrowers, I didnt make the electorate. I'm just telling you what they will do.

The fundies that voted in large numbers dont allow women as priests. A whole lot of democratic voters who go to church (especially in battleground states) are just fine by that practice. They just dont allow women in positions of power. You think they'd let a woman be president? Guess again.
Dem strategists worth their salt will never risk an election to that extent.
Just calling it the way it is.

On edit: I mean, have a penis, and not have breasts. I'm pretty sure a transsexual aint winning the election either.

34. hillary in 08 = Karl Rove's wet dream. it's just that simple.
here's why, for two reasons:

1)either, its pre-stolen already, b/c of diebold.

2) or, she'd lose legitimately b/c she is the single most unifying figure that the repubs have- you think fundies turned out this time? imagine if they had the chance to vote against a female clinton.
