Complete Congress & Electoral Vote Breakdown & STATE & REGION POWER |
Edited on Sun Nov-07-04 05:18 PM by Tweedtheatre
Enjoy this complete list of Office holders for the 2005-2007 session of Congress. I also broke down the United States in six regions. Some might question , New Mexico being a Western state (as opposed to Mountain) or Montana being Mountain (as opposed to Great Plain) or West Virginia being a Southern state (as opposed to I'm not really sure what, but it did seemed odd putting it in the South category considering the state broke off of Virginia to avoid joining the South), but I think the Regions are pretty accepted. I broke down what percentage of power each region controls in the Electoral College, Senate, and House. Some of things that work against us in the current situation are the fact that the Great Lakes states control 20% of the House, but only 12% of the Senate. Mountain States represent 5% of the EC and 4% of the House, but 12% of the Senate. There is a higher percentage of Republican Senators in the Northeast than Democratic Senators in the South. I say if you are a Republicans Senator in the Northeast, it's war time baby. We have three running for re-election in 2006. Let's kick them out (Santorum (PA)) or make them switch parties (Chafee (R) and Snowe (ME)). For the Senators I also added what class they are in so we know who is running and when to get the Senate back in 2008 if not '06.
The Great Lakes states could use a lot of work in House races. Right now we control 66% of the Great Lakes Senate, but only 37% of the House! That number should be switched and I think Great Lakes House races need to be focused on in '06. I have more thoughts, but after complining all this information, I just want to get it posted. I'm interested to see what everyone else thinks too. 1. I also think it's interesting that North Dakota went for Bush |
No question but has 2 Democratic Senators and a Democratic Rep. I think we could make some inroads in ND. Montana as well, they went for Clinton in '96, they have a Democratic Senator and just elected a Democratic governor. They have also recently put some anti-corporation legislation into place.

2. Thank you, that's a very useful list |
And plenty of work.
I hadn't even looked at some of the House specifics. More or less ignored that this year, since we had no chancer at a takeover. |

3. Well, if we had no chance of a takeover this year |

We could be in even more trouble in 2006 considering we lost seats. However, I think that many people will be pissed off at Republicans and I think that could help us. If we could pick up 3 seats in each area and 1 in the Mountain States, we would have it back. Almost impossible, but it's nice to dream.
I just noticed that there are smiles in two place and I'm not sure how they got there. Just thought I would point that out. |
