May The biggest Bubba win. |

2004 Bush - Kerry. Bush Bubba factor: 8 Kerry Bubba Factor: 1
2000 Gore - Bush. Bush Bubba Factor: 6 Gore Bubba Factor: 2
1996 Clinton - Dole. Clinton Bubba factor: 6. Dole Bubba Factor: 3
1992 Bush - Clinton. Clinton Bubba Factor: 7. Bush Bubba Factor: 2.5
1988 Bush - Dukakis Bush Bubba Factor: 4 Duke Bubba Factor: 0
1984 Reagan - Mondale Reagan Bubba Factor: 5 Mondale Bubba Factor: 2
1980 Carter - Reagan Reagan Bubba Factor: 5 Carter Bubba Factor: 4
1976 Ford - Carter Carter Bubba Factor: 6 Ford Bubba Factor: 4
1972 Nixon - McGovern Nixon Bubba Factor 6 McGovern BF: 1
1968 Humphrey - Nixon Nixon Bubba Factor 5 HHH Bubba Factor: 3
1964 Johnson - Goldwater Johnson Bubba Factor: 9 AuH20 BF: 6
1960 Nixon - Kennedy Kennedy Bubba Factor: 3 Nixon BF: 4
I could go on and on with this list. I believe Kennedy lost in 1960, by the way, but took the presidency through shenanigans. The Bubba Factor is simply my own arbitrary rating, taking things into account like appearance, background, speech patterns, known habits, and so on. People can gain or lose Bubba Factor points based on a variety of things; for example, Bush gained Bubba Factor points this year for growing even more stupid since 2000, plus all the policy decisions and so on he made specifically to pander to the Bubba population.

5. Kennedy liked to sail, was Harvard educated, debonair, |
|
good looking, came from a wealthy family, and had pretenses of being an intellectual. That Boston accent doesn't help a lot, either.
On the plus side, he ran as a super-hawk, was a known womanizer, and his family had bootlegging connections. Overall, I think a 3 is about right.

6. He blew it by being a Rhodes Scholar. |

He was also a shade too much of a pretty boy, so I docked him there. Of course, if you have a counter argument, I could bump him some.

...the better the candidate.
It's like a movie or a book, in some respects. You draw out the character. You don't have them do anything that doesn't fit the character you've drawn. People feel like they know them and can imagine how they'd act.

8. Being a super-hawk, McCarthyism, |

he went to Duke, and he was incredibly foul-mouthed and vulgar, in the pure meaning of the word.
On the minus side, he was very intelligent, had a law degree, came from California, and was terribly complex -- that hurts.

I thought about that, too. There were prostitutes involved, as I recall. I just never saw evidence Nixon got it on with one of them.
