Counting votes is a 'conspiracy' according to exec director of NM GOP
Democrats demand apology for GOP official’s ‘conspiracy’ accusation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Democrat John Kerry has conceded the race to President Bush but the partisan fight over votes in New Mexico remains rabid as Democrats demand an apology from a GOP official who claimed a “conspiracy” was afoot to deny Bush a win in the state.

Bush holds a narrow lead in New Mexico with 50 percent of the vote to Kerry’s 49 percent.

But Democrats have held out hope that outstanding provisional votes could swing the state.

On Thursday, the executive director of the state GOP complained about fluctuating vote totals on the secretary of state’s official Web site.

The site showed Kerry at one point leading Bush in the state.

Early Saturday afternoon, it showed Bush back in front.

Graves believes it was a conspiracy, saying that Richardson wanted Kerry to win New Mexico so he could brag to his liberal friends.

State Democratic Party Chairman John Wertheim has demanded an apology.
