Democrats.....stop following the crowd.
An extreme makeover. That`s what we need. A mass exodus off the DLC/DNC bandwagon and a redefinition of purpose. Remember that DLC memo? The anti, anti-war one? They called us "liberal elitists" and set the tone for the ensuing dialogue. The media decided we couldn`t be anti-war and pro-troop, pro-France and pro-America. Instead of advancing our core beliefs we allowed ourselves to be corraled into a go-nowhere trap. We got boxed in.

Ohio, Ohio, Ohio. Florida, Florida, Florida. Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania. It was all about winning and not about core values. Now we`re mired in this Red State/Blue State, Morals/ No Morals discussion. Once again, we`ve let others define us and instead of driving our own pace car we`re repairing flat tires in the pit. We`re right where they want us.

Isn`t it time to take a stand? Must we be dragged into the media`s hoopla? Right now it seems we`ve rested our chance of success on MSNBC`s Countdown program or a mini-segment on Air America Radio. Are we really that desperate?

I`ve been a Democrat for decades so I can remember what we used to be like when we said what we meant and meant what we said. Now we`re waiting on word from High Authority before we march forward.Do you really think those fools in the DLC/DNC advance core Democratic values? Did they make a big noise after the 2000 election? After Bush`s recent so-called victory? N-O, no.

Here`s what I`m going to do: Turn off regular cable "news" programs and refuse to participate in any crap polls. Throw my support behind politicians who advance old-fashioned Democratic values. Continue with activism like anti-war protests, boycotts, petitions, letters to editors. Refuse to adopt any Republican/media talking points and instead focus on issues that really matter. For me, it`s no longer about winning, it`s about standing for something no matter the consequences. Talk about liberation!

6. I. Totally. Agree.

As David van Os said, we are no longer the opposition party but the RESISTANCE party. We must resist them at every turn, fight them nonstop, make their party MISERABLE.

Resist, resist, resist. Do not listen to calls for "unity" and "healing" which in republican code translates to "Democrats need to sit down and shut up."

As for anyone in the Dem party who goes along with this, fuck you.

I am no longer watching any news on TV (haven't since Wednesday morning, 11/3) but if I hear of any Democrat or anyone representing the Democrats on TV being mealy-mouthed and mamby pamby and talking smack of unity or healing or allowing themselves to be spanked by a conservative on TV, I will not go after the conservative. I will RAKE that Dem over the fucking coals and tell them they might need to get the hell out of the party if they aren't even willing to stand the fuck up and speak up for us and for Democratic ideals and values.

I have no doubt of it--republicans LOVE the DLC, they LOVE the limp "leadership" from the Dems that is so willing to roll over and let them kick us.

I am still a Democrat, there's no leaving the party for me. But I think it's past time to clean house.

If WE aren't the party defending the Constitution of this country, then NO ONE is. The repukes have been wiping their asses with it for years.

"You cannot be bipartisan with a rattlesnake..." --David van Os

And you know what? There are TONS of us Democrats who feel the same exact way. If anyone out there is disgusted and looking at third parties, don't. Join us in kicking ass and cleaning house and making the Democrats DEMOCRATS AGAIN. We are FIGHTERS, scrappers, we don't back down, we don't go all limp at the first sign of opposition. That didn't get us the Civil Rights Act, that didn't get us the Voter Rights Act, that didn't get us ANYFUCKINGTHING. No, what got us success in the past was standing firm.

Don't let 'em see the whites of your eyes.

15. Wrap some duct tape around your wallet
so every time the DNC demands a donation, you won`t even be tempted. Send them an email...
When you start climbing down out of your ivory tower, get in touch. Until then, contact someone who`s listening. That wouldn`t be me.

Forget the likes of Paul(my friends across the aisle)Begala or Tom (I just wanted voters to know I`m willing to work with the President) Daschle. These guys are Gumby dolls, malleable little creatures who, at the first sign of a conflict advancing, grab a flag pin and play nice. Like they have real concern for homeless veterans living in a discarded refrigerator box. Like they spend their leisure time with families heating their kitchen with an open oven door. Nope. Begala has to spend valuable air time yukking it up about Heinz ketchup and Daschle tip toes up to a microphone like he`s scared to death someone might mention Howard Dean. Good grief!

16. I don't give to the DNC
I did once during the campaign. I also gave to Kerry's campaign once. During the primaries I gave and gave to Dean.

Now I give to organizations such as HRC and the ACLU and PFLAG. I am looking for others. Next time I get paid, a donation is going to Amnesty International. Also, not to toot my own horn, but I've given four times to DU in the name of three different people without stars. This site is extremely valuable and we need to support it.

If the DNC comes a-callin', I'll tell them how they can clean up their act before they get a penny from me. Meanwhile I'll support truly progressive organizations in their fight against the New American Fascism.

Democrats, as currently seen, do NOT stand for anything - No Principles! The DLC/DNC leadership, IMO, is geared to dismantling the old style democratic party values. They (DLC'ers) are more interested in cozying up to corporations than looking out for the interests of the average voter/worker. DLC principles/strategies have guided the democratic party's campaign in the last 3 elections and we have lost all three. What else? Now we are being told that we need to become more reThuglican than the reThugs in order to win in the south! I say damn-it, I will rather not be part of that democratic party the DLC wants!

10. Yep
just yep.

Anyone want to know what Dems are REALLY about? Read Garrison Keillor's "Homegrown Democrat." He lays it out and doesn't mince words about it, either.

We are about the WORKING American. We are on the side of the LITTLE GUY. We are on the side of the single parent pulling in $15,000 a year and raising two kids on that.

We are on the side of public schools and teachers. We are on the side of organized labor. We are about CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL and protection of those rights for all.

WE are about democracy, plain and simple. Protection of our freedoms. Strength through intelligence, working hard, having a heart and soul.

WE are NOT about kicking kids off of health insurance programs. We are not about getting in the crotch of corporations and doing their bidding.

Because when you do that, you lose your focus on the little guy. You CANNOT be for both the underpaid, overworked blue collar worker AND the corporation exploiting him at the same time. You cannot.

Dem "leadership" needs to choose. Wait, I think they already have.

We have a problem.

I set that on my favorites and will be using it. Spread that far and wide, we all need to know about it.

Every dollar I spend is going to start speaking for me and my values and not for corporate America.

12. You got it.
The present leadership allows the opposition to define them and then they spend the whole election trying to prove they are not like that which the opposition defines them as being instead of coming up with ideas, truth, and defining what's wrong with the other party.
