HOWARD DEAN for 2005 JFK Profiles in Courage Award
I am nominating Howard Dean.

an ad in the Sunday NY Times:

OUR NOMINATING COMMITTEE
IS LOOKING
FOR POLITICIANS WITH COURAGE,
SELFLESSNESS, AND INTEGRITY.
JUST LIKE VOTERS
"Leaders who stand on principle often receive scorn rather than praise from their constituents and colleagues. Politics often exacts a high price for acts of conscience. Please help us honor leaders who hear the call of principle amid the clamor of polls and advisers. Each year the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation recognizes elected officials from both sides of the aisle whose accomplishments reflect the kind of political courage described in President Kennedy's Pulitzer Prize-winning book, "Profiles in Courage". If you know a public servant who has demonstrated remarkable courage or a commitment to a principle, please e-mail your nomination to profileincourage@nara.gov or send it to the mailing address below by February 7, 2005."

Thanks for the link --

Oops, I just read through again and see they have to be an elected official -- does this disqualify Dean?

6. I nominated both Dean and Gore
Gore mainly because of his brilliant speeches at NYU... the ones he did not have to give but gave because he loves this country. They were brilliant.

7. What a FABULOUS Idea
And a hearty welcome to DU, from another totally confirmed, unrecovered, unrepetent, wild-eyed Deaniac.
