3. Sorry, that's unlikely to have any impact --

the new CHairman is voted on by the party activists from all the 50 states at their annual meeting in Feb, I think it is.

The Clintons will again have a huge say in who's elected, I predict, as they did in 2000 when a deal was made with contender Maynard Jackson, first black mayor of Atlanta, who wanted to revitalize grassroots efforts by the Democratic Party. Maxine Waters and others strongly supported Jackson, but coming up to the wire (that is, DURING their annual meeting), a deal was struck giving Jackson the chair of a brand new department, something about Voting Rights or Grassroots Activism, or whatever. So he graciously bowed out -- and was never heard from again. I suspect they gave him an office in the basement, or a small closet or something, with no funding and no staff.

6. I agree, it may not do much good.

But as I posted yesterday, if DUers concentrate their efforts on the DNC members from their own states, it might help a little.

I have personally met all the Minnesota DNC members, and conversed with 2 or 3 of them at length. I fully intend to remind them that it was WE delegates to the state convention that voted for them, and as a state party activist myself (and county unit officer), I expect to have my views considered.

If he's heading the DNC (like that would happen, since he's not exactly your establishment, D.C. liberal), he won't be able to run for President in 2008. As much as I'd love him to be head of the DNC, I want him as President more.

9. Dean would be great at that. However, he hasn't decided

yet if that's what he wants to do. Until he does, petitioning the DNC won't do any good.
It's a nice thought though!
