1. Oh, Perle's a beauty
A real beauty. He and Conrad Black - a couple of thieving liars, but only in their spare time.

Perle and Wolfowitz and Feith would have us invading every goddamned country in the Middle East.

We are SO fucked.

2. The expert on the show is saying that Rumsfeld is going to stay
despite expectations, and that the danger is that "idealogues" will be running foreign policy. I can't believe it!

11. What foreign policy?
Ideologues have been running everything in this administration.

They're just more brazenly open about it now.

But, don't forget - the election's not over yet. Not until December 13, when the electors meet to cast their votes.

I still believe in John Kerry, and I really do believe we're going to see history made in the coming month.

I may be wrong. But, if I am, it'll be just like it is now anyway.

32. No wonder Rumschfelt is staying
> "The expert on the show is saying that Rumsfeld is going to stay"

Well, what would the neoCons do without their torture organizer?

Think about it.
Who else would steep low enough to order the simplest and most gullible of the people under his command to use torture, then abandon them as the 'few and isolated' and hang them out to dry?

The Rumsfeld touch...

Rumsfeld is a coward, and won't take responsibility for atrocities committed on his watch, at his bidding.

In Nürnberg he would have been among those found dead in their cell.

10. I don't know about this - he's being sued?
What's the case about?

Hollinger International Inc. (NYSE:HLR) (“the Company”) today announced that the Special Committee of its Board of Directors (“the Special Committee”) has filed a Second Amended Complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (“the Court”) on behalf of the Company in its lawsuit against certain directors and former directors and officers, as well as the Company’s controlling shareholder and its affiliated companies. The total amount of damages sought in this Second Amended Complaint is approximately $542 million, which includes pre-judgment interest of $117 million.

...

The Second Amended Complaint adds Hollinger International Director Richard N. Perle as a Defendant. The suit claims breaches of fiduciary duty by Perle related to his service as a member of the Company’s Executive Committee.

17. Does anyone ever describe white people as "articulate?"
Colin Powell is a decorated military officer. Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A highly educated man.

Of course he's "articulate," you ass! It may come as a surprise to you, Mr. Perle, but most people aren't surprised that a man of Colin Powell's background, education and experience can ar-ti-cu-late properly. Only a bigot would feel the need to comment upon it.

20. Yes - Condoleezza Rice is ALWAYS described as "articulate."
You're damned right she's "articulate!" She's an f-ing PhD, former provost of Stamford University, has earned something like 25 degrees. Whatever we think of her, she's damned smart and accomplished.

And yes, of course, she's articulate - that should go without saying. But for some reason, it's still worthy of comment.

Amazing.

29. Transcript is up:

RICHARD PERLE: I think he's done great work. It was his fate to be the nation's top diplomat at a time when some of the urgent problems we faced could not be dealt with by diplomatic means. There was no way to deal diplomatically with Osama bin Laden or with the Taliban in Afghanistan, or with Saddam Hussein.

And, so in the end, you can only take diplomacy so far, and the president was forced reluctantly to resort to the use of force where diplomacy couldn't be effective. But Colin Powell himself was a wonderfully articulate and effective representative of American policy.
