What identifable policies do we believe in that we can win on?
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 07:45 AM by Blue Dog Dem
Let's define four of five specific things we want as a party and a group. I would say no more than five, five ideas we can run on, rally around, and win on.

Sometimes I think we have either got to many issues, or, we are not focused on them tight enough.

3. Redistribution of Wealth
We need to maintain a progressive tax system to redsistribute wealth to the lower and middle class, as a group but NOT individually, to prevent the concentration of wealth in to few hands.

4. Let everyone's vote count count and be counted equally
Due to the way the electoral college is set up in most states, only the votes cast for the winner matters. Democrats in strongly red states might as well not vote for President, Republicans in the strongly blues states are in the same boat. This creates "battleground states" where the candidates must focus their money and attention. Strongly partison states and their concerns are largely ignored.

Also, votes in rural states and Washington, DC, are weighted far more heavily than votes cast in larger states like California and New York.

We must inform the public that this is very undemocratic, and unfair to all voters regardless of party affiliation.
