Why is he considered inexperienced when he has already served (I think) 7 years in the IL state assembly? If serving on the state level is not considered experience then why are governors considered experienced? I'm just curious what everyone thinks about this.

1. He's not "technically" inexperienced, BUT... |
|
It would just look ridiculous to have a state senator who ran for the US Senate two years earlier, now running for President, or considered for VP.

I just think he is the best out there and would love to see him run before he stinks of the senate.

4. Well he's probably not going to be able to run... |

until 2012 or 2016. That's just the way it goes, sadly. He will likely "stink of the senate" by then.
Would have been nice if he could have run for Governor of Illinois instead. (if we didn't already have a democratic Governor) That would have been the perfect launching pad for a Presidential bid. :bounce:

3. By 2008, he'll have as much experience as Edwards did this year. |

5. 2008, as in, 2008 primaries? |
|
Because if that's what you mean, then, no, he wouldn't have as much experience as Edwards did this year.
He would, if he ran for President, have to start raising money and initial campaigning in 2006, so that's 2 years of experience. At least Edwards served one term in the senate.
