Webb has eye on top DNC post
Former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb is one of several leaders being considered to head the Democratic Party.

Sources say other top contenders for the Democratic National Committee chairmanship include former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean; Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack; Virginia Gov. Mark Warner; former Bill Clinton aide Harold Ickes; California Democratic Chairman Art Torres; and former AT&T executive Leo Hindery.

Current chairman Terry McAuliffe's term is ending after a national election in which Republicans retained control of the White House, Senate and House of Representatives.

"There's a huge power vacuum," said Craig Hughes, a Denver political consultant who worked as a DNC staffer.

1. This is going to sound petty, but...
I was at the Denver County Convention last May, and sat right behind him. He shook hands with only the people he knew, which wasn't me and a few others I was sitting around. I must've been sitting around a lot of old party money there. His wife snubbed me and others too. I have no use for snobs...I say get Dean. If that makes me a traitor to my city and state, then thank Mayor Wellington Webb!:puke:

2. Doesn't matter who the chair is
as long as they build the party. Vilsack, Webb, Dean. Doesn't really matter to me. They would all be fine choices. Its not a policy position. The job is to elect Democrats and build the party.
