Probably safe. He has strong, positive Name Recognition and the state corrected itself back to its Democratic roots after electing a Repuke governor and Norm "Sellout" Coleman in 2002.

51. Don't forget that Pukelenty was elected
by splitting the liberal vote between Roger Moe and Tim Penney.

NO INDEPENDENTS RUNNING IN 2006!!!

And when you add the absentee ballots for Senator Wellstone to the votes Senator Mondale got, Normie LOST. (Normie's absentee ballots were counted - what does that say about fairness???)

33. Check out this!
The purpose of this group is to draft the current Attorney General of the State of Missouri, Jay Nixon, to run for US Senate in 2006. Attorney General Nixon defeated his Republican challenger in 2004 by 59% to 37%. He recieved 1,590,531 votes. By comparison the current President of the United States recieved 136,183 fewer Missouri votes than did Nixon.

Jay instituted the popular No Call Program that is a model for other states, won the landmark victory in the U.S. Supreme Court in Nixon v. Shrink that cleared the way nationally for campaign finance reform, and has been a leader in criminal law and victims’ rights.

This will be a tough hold in '06. Don't know if Jeb will run, but I'm expecting Katherine Harris to give it a try.

I'm worried about FL. I'm not sure if Davis, Maddox (don't like him), Smith, or Jones can beat whoever the Republicans put forward for Gov.

23. There was a rumor that he was not going to run again, but
I have heard from several sources a few more rumors that he will stay another term.

I'm sure Thompson is thinking about it. But after the mess he left here, I don't think he has much of a reputation to run on here anymore. Maybe McCallum provided enough distraction from the mess and people forgot.

As far as Dem interested in the job, I've heard that Rep. Ron Kind may be interested. No others have been mentioned in my rumor mills.

After we elected Janet Napolitano in 2002, I was hopeful AZ would turn blue this year, and that we'd oust this a-hole in 2006. However, since chimpy beat Kerry here by a larger margin than he beat Gore, I'm not too hopeful. :-(

I would love to see Tom Allen go for that seat. My husband and I have been playing "fantasy candidate" and Tom Allen is our hands-down favorite thus far.

If Snowe did run for governor, I have a feeling Baldacci would be toast. To be honest, thus far, I was much more impressed with him when he was a rep. A lot of us are pretty mad about how he's pushed for liquified natural gas development, among other things (not that I would prefer Snowe--I'm just saying I think he's vulnerable.)

Thanks for the welcome, everybody! And the fact that there are other RT fans here makes me feel even more at home. (I just saw him last month--gloat, gloat)

I used to think he was evil. Now I realize he's just crazy.

I hope the PA Dems put forward a decent candidate, not some two bit state office holding nimrod who thinks it's their turn.

Any big celebrities from Pennsylvania? How bout a sports star..they're big...

You'd need someone who is from here but played for another team, not the Steelers or Eagles for instance. Someone who can really draw...

I got it...From Pennsylvania...Famous Sports Star...Played for non-state teams...and would have a funny gimick in his name...

Can you say Senator Joe Montana of Pennsylvania?

Well if only North East pa voted it would be Senator Gerry McNamara
http://www.dailyorange.com/news/2003/02/20/Sports/Mcnamara.Earns.Permanent.Place.In.Scrantons.Heart-374657.shtml

SCRANTON, Pa. — Cheers, to Gerry McNamara, from the Guinness line at Cosgrove's Clubhouse & Tavern, where never before could one 19-year-old Irish boy claim so many unacquainted cousins.

Cheers from the Carrier Dome upper deck and its 52 busloads of adoring Scrantonians — 2,000 in all — who marched two hours north to flute their support, in a fan club called "McNamara's Band," for a freshman point guard scoring 14.3 points per game.

Cheers from the employees at Stirna's restaurant, just seven blocks from McNamara's childhood home in North Scranton. Raise a glass, because suddenly, with one heroic 3-point shot and one euphoric riot of people fixed before a 22-inch television, opening four hours early for a 1 p.m. Syracuse basketball game didn't seem so silly anymore.

Here's to Gerry McNamara, the toast of Scranton, Pa. The hero, the role model, the kid with a jump shot who's made a steely town of 75,640 feel cozier than a Holy Rosary church meeting. His game-winning 3-pointer against Notre Dame on Saturday, the one that gave Scranton the ending it hoped for? That's all dandy, but any fairy-tale ending requires a fairy-tale story to begin with.

This one begins with a town and its pride for a teenager, a pride so strong that the simple mention of the teenager's name can turn two strangers in Scranton — young or old, it doesn't matter — into playground pals or golfing partners or drinking buddies. So by now, because of McNamara, it's safe to say Scranton's pretty much run out of strangers.

14. New Jersey has Corzine up, however
He's also strongly considering running for governor in 05, depending on how the state reacts to Codey, and whether or not Codey makes a run himself-which isn't neccesarily going to stop Corzine anyway.

I haven't read that much on who would run for Corzine's seat, but from what I gather, and my own personal opinions, we'll see Rep Bob Menendez run for the Dems, he's pretty popular statewide, especially in urban areas. The State AG, forget his name, is considered the only real rising GOP star, he may run for Gov, and if he doesn't, or loses closely, he may run for Corzine's seat.

He's pretty safe, as I do not think a Democrat will challenge him internally. The only prominent Republicans in the state are Nancy Johnson, Rob Simmons & Chris Shays. Shays is probably close to Lieberman on the political scale... and I think Simmons would get crushed. Johnson might make it close, though, but I doubt she'd end up within 10 points.

Hey, I can't complain though. My two senators are great - Levin and Stabenow. Stabenow is up in '06 as is Governor Granholm. The state did go to Kerry by a narrower margin than I would have expected.

They're plannin to use the whole values thing saying that Bush got more votes than Granholm did. I think we'll hold on to both but it will be a tough fight.

60. I think the GOoPers will go all in against Hillary!
She's the Clinton the monkeys love to hate the most, even more than Bill. Fortunately, we also have Eliot Spitzer running for governor, who will probably win. If he gets people enthused enough, it will neutralize the Upstate yahoos. I tell you, if the NY Democrats leave even one office uncontested in '06, shame on us.

62. Stabenow is up in '06 as is Governor Granholm
from the state of Michigan.

The state did go to Kerry by a narrower margin than I would have expected.

The pukes're plannin to use the whole values thing saying that Bush got more votes than Granholm did. I think we'll hold on to both but it will be a tough fight.

64. DE - Tom Carper (D) up for reelection
Likely very safe. First elected as State Treasurer back in the '70's, then became our sole member in the House and served a number of terms, then when our current Rep - Mike Castle (R) was term limited as Gov. he and Carper basically switched jobs, and Carper served two terms as Gov.. He then ran against and defeated the Bill Roth (R) our then long serving Senator.

67. Indiana
But it's Lugar, and he'll win, unless he retires. Even then, there's no real viable Democrat to put up for the spot...
