So many people leaving.
Yes, I know it is not un common for a second term President to have cabinet changes. What makes me worry is the way their are SO many of them in such a short time.

It makes me wonder what is going to happen to this country if the second term of Bush goes thru.

The more I see this the more I fear that something BIG will happen.

1. Your fear is well-grounded, I fear.

6. Yes
Reagan had 6, Clinton had 7. Bush's admin is bigger, so it is likely he will have a couple more than that.

4. Part of me is hoping they make a hard turn to the right
Fill all these vacancies with the looniest of the lunatics. Make it impossible for anyone not to see just how extremist this administration can be.

5. WHEW! I thought you were talking about people on DU
People aren't leaving--they're being fired because they have to take the blame for making George look so incompetent. Nothing happened during his previous tenure was HIS fault, you see, so he has to get a fresh bunch of people to blame everything on. Fear not, before long we'll have a new set of losers to vilify!

7. he's got nothing to stop him from screwing up things even worse
congress/supreme court/white house all under his thumb and he's surrounds himself with proven accomplished boot-lickers

Dems are calling for cooperation and bipartisanship -- meanwhile repugs are lining up their ducks to go nuclear if the Dems even hint at dissenting

CIA resignations? These guys are being painted as uncooperative disgruntled employees who don't want things to change

if we the people go out an protest -- media will be told to spin it as the actions of a few radicals

where are our leaders? rolling over and playing dead for the repugs

8. Does anybody get the feeling they all know
he's a incompetent moron that you can't ever disagreee with?

Like now's my chance to be free! Yipee!

Oh, yeah, that and they are cowards and lousy Americans for staying loyal to what is destroying their country. I keep wondering if Republicans are Americans anymore, or just Bush loyalists without souls of their own.

9. I'm very curious....
What was the turnover like with Clinton's second term? I know this is common to have some turnover, and a new tone to set with the second term dues, but to have the ENTIRE top tier vacate... FBI, CIA, SOS, HS... I don't mind seeing Agriculture or Education rotated, but the biggies? Makes me nervous. Did Clinton roll over SOS? I know Tenet and Freeh were stable.

10. Hell, I'm not worried (too much)
but we have to wait and see who all fill those pretty pretty shoes.

But the turnover is common:

Resignations From Presidents’ Cabinets Not All That Unusual
LexisNexis analysis reveals last five administrations have seen their fair share of quitters

DAYTON, OH, October 01, 2004 - George Tenet’s resignation in August from the top CIA position in President George Bush’s administration is small potatoes when compared to other presidents who have had high-level people step down, a search of LexisNexis® has revealed. In fact, most administrations have felt the impact of departures of high-ranking leaders from cabinet and advisory positions. LexisNexis U.S. is a leading provider of legal, news, and business information services

>>snip

Eight of Jimmy Carter’s cabinet members eventually resigned during his one term in office.

>>snip

Before he (Clinton) finished his second term in office, he had 10 of his original cabinet members resign and several of their replacements also resign. Clinton had four commerce secretaries and three secretaries of treasury, defense, and energy.

>>>snip

In addition to the cabinet musical chairs, Reagan endured four chiefs of staff and six national security advisors, with Colin Powell holding that post for the last two years of that administration.

12. I was thinking the same thing....do they not want to be part of an
impending police state/holocaust, are they sickened by the corruption of the Bu$h administration, or do they recognize that the country is going to collapse around Bu$h?
