Bush/GOP: Department of Morality and Values
In a rare show of bipartisanship Senators Joe Lieberman (D) and Orin Hatch (R) have proposed a new Department of Morality and Values. The Senators say it is vital that the nation return to its core values. The Department of Morality and Values may run into some trouble right out of the box due to the fact that the Ten Commandments will be one of the guides used to measure core values and morality. The Senators said the Ten Commandments should not be looked at as just a religious guideline but one that fits many religions and non-religious citizens as well.
The Department will serve as a watchdog to insure all forms of media adhere to morals and values. The entertainment industry in its various forms will also come under its domain. The Department may also reach into relationships by making it harder to not only get married but also get divorced. Civil unions will not be recognized same sex or opposite.
Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson hailed the new initiative as a step in the right direction. If the Department is formed these two may well be campaigning for the cabinet position.

2. This is right out of the Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
It may be something to laff about now.... but I sometimes wonder if there are not people who WOULD want this kind of authority. :)
