Poll question: Russ Feingold in 08?
I say yes.

He's a good Dem senator from a battleground state, and he has been a great spokesman for Democratic issues.

He has tons of charisma, and a real ability to connect with people and speak simply and clearly.

I think he's our man for 08.

Thoughts?

1. He's a hero for his NO on USA-PATRIOT. Rest of record - no that good.

4. Rest of record, not that good?
WHAT IS BAD about his record?

Besides the Ashcroft vote, what's so bad about it?

Shit, even Dennis Kucinich was anti-choice up until 2 years ago.

I want to know what is so bad about Feingold.

He voted against the war, for the 87 billion, and against the Patriot Act. He was right on all 3 issues. You can't say that about any other Senator.

3. I could deal with that
If I can't have Kerry, I wouldn't mind working for Feingold.

In a sense, I already have. The campaign in Wisconsin was a combined Kerry/Feingold campaign. I might even have a chance to see some of the same people again.

6. Love Feingold, but...
...I wholeheartedly oppose another Senator for Presidential candidate. He's a great man and maybe he could be Governor for a time and then go to POTUS, but not now.

8. Feingold keeps his own counsel, like John McCain
The Democratic establishment will never support someone they cannot own! Feingold is okay with me!

9. Exactly
I want our own maverick, like McCain, IndianaGreen!

He's never been afraid to oppose the majority of Democratic senators.

He voted against USA Patriot.

He voted FOR spending caps.

He voted AGAINST Doma.

He voted FOR welfare reform.

He voted AGAINST the war.

He is a real maverick and you can't really pin a label on him. That's what I love about him. :hi:

10. Feingold takes too much money from Zionist PAC's
So far, $115,310, one of the better benefactors of such pro-Israel PACS. We need a more even handed approach to the Middle East.

11. The party will never nominate someone like that
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 01:51 AM by Nestea
Let's please be realistic. Jews voted 4-1 for Kerry and Gore and Israel was one of the reasons.

That would be like saying, oh, let's oppose affirmative action so we can get more white votes. Yeah, but you'd lose the black vote, and you'd lose mine.

No thanks.

Of course, I'd prefer somewhat evenhanded too. I think Feingold is that guy.

12. Feingold is a great senator
But I think he's too nice a guy to win a presidential election. We need someone who can get down in the mud and fight like a pit bull. Plus we seem to have trouble electing senators to the office of president. I think we should look for a governor or some other type of leader (someone like Wesley Clark).

14. You're right
He's actually TOO nice a guy to be president.

He wouldn't be aggressive enough to win it.

That said, I'm OBLIGAGTED to vote for him because he voted against the PATRIOT act.

No other senator had the courage to do so.

15. Red states won't elect a Jew
I'd vote for Feingold in a heartbeat, but the red states won't support someone who doesn't believe in Jeebus.
