How Do We Live In This Environment?

Now that all moral values have gone out the window what do we do in our daily lives.

All the people at the top of the government have moved on beyond the law. Like DeLay. Like Rumsfeld. Like Bush. etc. etc.

We have to live with the daily atrocities of the war. Its hard to determine which side has become the most barbaric. We are both doing a pretty good job of it. Here we have sent out young and best and turned them into barbarians or corpses.

How do we organize our lives now? I trust no one. Not anyone in government certainly. And no one in business. Anything goes now.

So, do I just make my own reality? What do I do now.

1. Let's overload the White House inbox

How about one of our articulate members create a thread, complete with images (to make the file size bigger) detailing our greivances and our complete lack of faith and support for this administration? We all agree to copy this letter, and send it to the White House mailbox. If all the members make this symbolic show to the White House, maybe we can put them on notice that we are not going to tolerate this. And with the number of members DU has, it will be a hell of a big show of defiance. It's purely symbolic, but I think if we all did this at once, it would tell the admin that we are organized and very pissed off.

2. Spend time with others of like mind, and focus on yourself and

family, being healthy and keeping sane. We are going to need to be very focused and strong in the days ahead, so it is important to take care of yourself, even as the whole world around you feels so surreall. I totally understand your feelings. I feel like reality has been turned on its head, but it only forces me to have to dig deeper inside of me for the truth, then hang onto that truth, and most important, be around others who recognize it, too.

We are all here on DU to talk with, too.

5. Friend of Mine Called Last Nite with

"Did you see the tape?" Yea, I saw it. And I wondered how many other Marines had done exactly the same thing - just didn't get caught on tape. A lot, probably. And can you blame them? Probably not. War gets pretty ugly.

We may be looking at undending war.

So, do I just throw the TV in the trash? Make my own little moral world and stay there?

I don't know how to live like this. With a totally corrupt government. With big corporations running without checks and balances. Its like being caught in a whole new existence and I can't find the door that will get me out of it.

3. Personally

I just allow myself to go a little more crazy everyday. It's about the only thing I have at this point.

Who has the balls to nominate Alberto freakin' Gonzales as the next AG? Not only that, but as I've talked to a few people here and there, a lot don't even know who Gonzales is.

Now we have Rice as Sec. of State. Probably John Bolton(or someone similar) as her deputy.

Stephan Hadley, one of the people that probably leaked Plame's name, as the new NSA.

The Christo-Theocrats wanting to, and actually having the opportunity, to completely take over.

The war crimes happening in Iraq.

Jets flying people all over the world to be tortured.

Wal-Mart ruling the planet.

Who knows what the CIA will be doing a year from now. I won't count anything out for that agency, especially now.

Grover Norquist being alive.

So many other problems. Inside and outside of this country.

And you can't make your own reality. You live in the reality based community. Only the people running the empire can form time and space the way they see fit.

4. Live your life as best you can

After all, this gang doesn't have your permission, and they can't make your morals go out the window.

Withdraw from the immoral as much as you can. Learn to cook so you can avoid the corporate food that's killing us. Develop a constructive passion so you can avoid the intellectual poison on television. Avoid churches that destroy the soul by preaching hate. Fill your life with good friends, good food, good books and good music.

Above all, remember that it's THEM, not you, and come here to the DU boards to find the rest of us.

6. Do You Think We Could Get Some Pot

and just stay ripped? I really wouldn't mind that part of it.

Get some black light posters and some lava lamps and some mandalas for the walls.

I was a hippy once and I think it might be nice to be one again.

7. Keep trying to exemplify the values of those "defeated" candidates!

We can't allow the dirty tricks and the brutal tactics of the power mongers to set the rules of engagement! Remember the benevolence at the core our party, first to do no harm, like doctors proclaim in their Hypocratic Oath. When the opposition's zealots, commit the enevitable cruelties against us, then they will be seen by all and will STAND OUT. Truth wins out, and in the end that truth becomes the driving force for people of good intent.

8. Sometimes it takes a long time for the truth to surface again.
