Bush buddy Alberto Gonzales makes Ashcroft look squeaky-clean.
Do a little "Googling" on THIS motherf**ker. He's every bit as dirty as any past or present Bush cabinet member. The article below is from December 20, 2000...but it features his "greatest hit," helping Bush cover up his 1976 DUI charge. Randi Rhodes has been on a rant about him this afternoon, saying that a lot of the "secrecy"...Bush will only testify WITH Cheney, Condi will testify but ONLY for one hour, records of both Dubya AND Poppy Bush sealed from public access, etc...needs to be credited to THIS bastard.

Meanwhile, the "Find Law" Web Site (http://news.lp.findlaw.com/ap_stories/a/w/1152/11-4-2004/20041104093015_19.html) notes that this move would "would give Bush a notable Hispanic appointment"...so he kills two birds with one stone. He replaces Ashcroft with someone who's WORSE, and he pimps out the much-treasured "Latino Vote" for the GOP, which kinda fell through when the "Guest Worker Program" went in the crapper. "Viva Bush" my ASS.

ATLANTA (CNN) -- President-elect George W. Bush turned to a long-time associate to fill the post of White House counsel, selecting Texas Supreme Court Justice Alberto R. Gonzales.

Bush appointed Gonzales to the bench in 1999. Prior to that, Gonzales was Texas secretary of state, where he served as Gov. Bush's senior advisor, chief elections officer and lead liaison on Mexico.

Gonzales spent three years on Gov. Bush's staff as general counsel. In 1996, he helped Bush avoid jury duty in a DUI case. Jury service could have forced Bush to disclose that he had pleaded guilty to drunken driving in Maine in 1976, instead, that fact came out just days before the presidential election.

He argued that Bush could not serve on the jury because he might be called on to make a clemency decision in the case.

1. Three birds
Because of his abortion ruling, he's getting touted as a moderate. Some people around here are even buying in. If the moderate label sticks to this guy, this is the guy who will replace Sandra Day O'Conner.

2. You're right...
...no matter what happens, they've got angles to cover EVERYTHING.

Where the hell is this gonna end? How many times per day can George Orwell spin around in his grave?
