Senate Confirms Carlyle Group Good 'Ole Boy as Secretary of the Army
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 03:40 PM by Khaotic
Per the Associated Press most know that Pres. Bush nominated defense industry executive Francis J. Harvey as Secretary of the Army a couple of months back.

Today the Senate confirmed Pres. Bush's nomination.

What no media outlet has addressed to date when referring to his resume are his ties to The Carlyle Group; a group that didn't get played in a very good light in Fahrenheit 9/11 to say the least.

The L.A. Times/AP story:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-roche17nov17,1,3906003.story?coll=la-headlines-nation

The Carlyle Group link you won't read anywhere else (if it's still there when you click on it):

http://www.bridgebank.com/downloads/pressrelease12.pdf

The key paragraph from that link, in case it disappears.

"Mr. Harvey is affiliated with The Carlyle Group, serving on the boards of three Carlyle controlled corporations. The Carlyle Group is a global private equity investment firm whose Chairman is Frank Carlucci, the Secretary of Defense for the George Bush administration. Other notable Partners of the Carlyle Group include James Baker, former Chief of Staff of the Regan administration, John Major, former Prime Minister of Britain, and Arthur Levitt, Jr., former Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission."

I wonder why this isn't in his resume and/or his bragging points? Maybe because it would look like what it is ... Pres. Bush pushing for someone else from his Good 'Ole Boy network. This time to head the most powerful Army in the world.

2. The army has been rudderless for some time
...the poor bastard who was "Acting" actually did more time in the job than the guy he replaced.

The weecowboy has been wiping his ass with the army for some time now. Why should anything change?

3. They got a mandate for fascism, didn't they?
These are our choices: Fraud, or Fascism? Did America vote for Fascism, or were the American voters defrauded.

Whichever, America is awash in f-words.

4. Only one other link found on the 'Net to Carlyle Group
I only found one other link on the 'Net that mentions the Carlyle Group and Mr. Harvey.

Gee ... and it was on a progressive web site. Go figure.

I did see that Sen. Reed pushed against Harvey getting the nod.

Seems that he was one of the few.

Neocons and freepers everywhere and they control almost everything.

6. DU Execlusive?
What are the chances that no one else has pointed out Harvey's Carlyle Group ties other than Truthout, and they didn't really do it pointblank.

Does anyone here have a way of making this known to the guy that runs The Raw Story page?

I think he would do a good job of highlighting this.

If Mr. Harvey's ties w/ Carlyle were investigated a little more heavily maybe more people would come to the conclusion that this isn't the guy to head the Army.

The House still has to vote right?

I know, fat chance there huh, but if only more people were talking about it and he was labeled a Carlyle Group Good 'Ole Boy.

Thoughts?
