It is not about left and right or middle....it is about right and wrong. |
|
It is about the fact that enough of our party voted yes for the Iraq invasion to occur. That is wrong. They knew it was wrong when they voted...it is because they wanted it to happen.
It is about NOT selling out on a woman's right to choose, NOT selling out the rights of the gay community.
It is about selling the seniors down the river by not standing up to this disastrous plan. It is about the fact that they are not talking about the raiding of the Social Security.
It is about just giving in and giving in until they are no longer the opposition.
I can tell the ones here who are sort of the DLC messengers. They do not have a clue how most of us think. They have depended on corporate donors so long they are no longer aware we are here.
They make light of anti-war people, calling us fringe, and telling us to say Good-night, Vietnam.
I came to DU in 2002 and felt totally out of place because I was way too moderate for most here.
Now at DU in 2004, I feel totally out of place because I am treated like a radical left. Sorry, I have not changed at all. Something is wrong.

This fight is beyond politics as usual. This is a fight between Democracy and Fascism, a fight between right and wrong.
The fact that the Democrats in Congress, including John Kerry don't seem to see this, is the worst symptom of them all.
Reminds me of the Vichy government in France. We don't want to be seen as "uncooperative", so we cooperate with criminals.
Urgh. I feel myself turning Green...

you also should realize that many of us who come to DU come here with an open mind. Our opinions change over time, and as we learn and interact with other rational people. There are people at every stage of developing their opinions and insights here.
There is such a diversity of people and opinion here that I would be hard pressed to categorize ALL of DU as one thing or another by any means.

3. How do you feel about the war and Fallujah? |
|
How do you feel about a woman having the right to choose?
How do you feel about the gay community having rights?
How do you feel about Medicare and Social Security which are safety nets for our seniors?
How do you feel about public schools?
Keep an open mind, but realize that our party is selling out the values we should have as a party.
And while our candidate and our party sit on over 45 million, WE are having to fund the recounts.
How open-minded are you?

4. That's just another harmful divisional tactic. |

"Right and Wrong" is just as bad as "Left and Right".

5. Have we reached this point? Right is a "divisional" tactic? Sad. |

6. It makes the point clear, though, that it's not so much about jockeying |
|
for position on the political spectrum as it is about leadership and standing up for what you believe in, which is true.

this is an anonymous talk board that consists of posts that are short, abrupt, without too much content or attempts to establish a connection to another poster.
I always like to read your posts. Stick to your principles and it does not matter what the rest of the chatter on DU is.

I am not popular, and I don't care. It is time folks stood up for what is right.

12. I think the division is between those who forgive and those who do not |
|
I would be surprised if there's anyone on DU that supported the Iraq War from the beginning.
However, some of us are willing to forgive those that voted for the war and have moved on. Others still hold that vote as a litmus test.
What's wrong is that too many Dems voted for the war. We have all chosen to deal with it in different ways. I don't see it as something ideological but a matter of personal preference and to some extent of personality.
What do we do when someone we trusts lets us down? Do we forgive him? Do we abandon him? It's not an easy question to answer.

14. Wait! Wait a minute. Are you saying I have to *forgive* the war? |
|
Bite your tongue. We have, according to a British medical journal, The Lancet....killed, murdered over 100,000 Iraqis...closer to 200,000 with Fallujah included.
Well, just color me angry...I do not forgive this war.
