What I Want Howard Dean To Do
Forget the DNC. Even if a million of us sign the petition, he won't get the chairmanship. He's being marginalized by the powers that be. He's endlessly dissed by the talking heads, Kerry, Reid and Lieberman are actively working against him.

I want him- and us- to focus on DFA, where a few hundred thousand or a million of us really can make a difference. We know we can raise money, and we know that Dean listens to us.
Why can't we build DFA up to be a major force in the party, a combination of an activist organization, running and supporting candidates, and a progressive think tank?

Leaders in the Democratic party are giving every indication that they're running to the right, hastily picking up religion on the way.
There was an article in the Times today about Dem leaders seeking out advice from conservative religious leaders. I think we stand a much better chance of taking back the party by building DFA into a force to be reckoned with. What do you think?

1. Prove that Kerry is working against Dean
Lieberman, yes. Reid, yes... but where have you heard anything that Kerry was "working against Dean"?

I'm with you on making sure Dean has a voice and that the Democratic party remains (or tries to remain) progressive and work as a real opposition party to the Repugs.

3. Kerry = DLC
Kerry was the DLC-sponsored candidate in this election. The DLC has worked against Dean from the start, first to keep him from winning the nom and now to keep him from gaining too much power or influence in the party... They don't want anyone to have enough influence to challenge them and their hold on power over the party. Think of the DLC as the current party hegemon. Dean is a direct challenge to that preeminent position.

Therefore, while I have not heard proof that Kerry is working against Dean (though I think I may have heard he had some hand in getting Pelosi NOT to back Dean for DNC chair), it would not surprise me in the least if it turns out to be true.

5. Sorry, I can't prove it, I heard it on CNN
the other day, More specifically, I heard that Kerry doesn't want Dean as chair of the DNC. He wants Vilsack.

2. From where it stands now...
I think that would be the wisest choice for Dean to make.

Dean started his own grassroots org in DFA which came out of his bid for the Presidency and who knows how much power it can yield in the months and years to come?

I think it will only get stronger!

4. DFA all the way
I think Howard Dean is the only real Democrat willing to stand up to the powers that be. If the Dems marginalize Dean, maybe its time for marginalizing the Dems.

6. I'm in
... a few of us leftovers from the Indiana Dean group have been tossing around ideas over the past week about how we can best approach the next 2 years.

Think globally, act locally, y'know ?

7. I think you're right. The DNC wing of the dem party is DEAD.
They're the only ones that don't know it yet; it's time for the party base to move to DFA.
