How many of you believe that the Dems and the Repubs are in bed together?
Kerry is a Washington insider, Kerry being elected leaves THE ESTABLISHMENT INTACT.

Kerry would have changed SOME things, but not near as much as we would hope. Kerry would have kept the status quo. THE PROBLEM is that Bush now has free reign to do what he wants with lightening
speed. Kerry would have at least strengthened the "BLUES" to a point and there would have been more arguing over things in
the Houses and some of the Social Programs would have been given
more REAL COMPASSION and the Supreme Court would have been in
better shape and the WORLD would have thought of Americans with
some respect again. The bilateral would have returned to an extent,
the unilateral wouldn't be so apparent.

Kerry would have made some pretty superficial changes and bought us some time, but all in all, they - Bush and Kerry are all parts of the same team. The differences aren't nearly dramatic as we would
like to believe.

There was a reason that many called Kerry "Bush lite". Now we are in for a lightening speed sharp turn to the right.

Hold on tight, because the ESTABLISHMENT in Washington is watching it all with thier eyes wide open.

Really, who do we turn to?

1. I agree
The invironment would have benefited from Kerry, but other than that not much would be different--just a slower downward spiral.

2. Kerry, Bush not too much different
I wish we had an alternative to these two parties that are in bed with each other. When will we ever get a real choice again?

4. you had one
Ralph Nader. People decided he was a republican shill because republicans donated $112,000 to his campaign, as opposed to the $10.6 million donated to Kerry by repubs.

5. there are alternatives all over the place
but they are shot down and destroyed early on in the primaries. the ones that make it to their party's ticket still go down hard in a landslide. the establishment is wicked powerful and people who think that it's democratic or republican are just kidding themselves.

one of these alternatives is running for DNC chairman. you don't have to be a flaming lefty or righty to be an independent-thinking maverick

6. more bs
the parties are so different and haven't been this different since the great depression. Kerry's policies were very different than Bush's.

7. Now Is Not the Time For National Unity!
perhaps the words mr. kerry chose for his "concession" speech were just a bunch of "supposed to's" ... perhaps you need to show you have class so you say things like he said ... frankly, there were other words he could have chosen to rally the base ... i won't judge him by his words but rather by his deeds ... his words, though, seem to have gotten us off to a very bad start ...

source: http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1117-28.htm

As per the routine used by countless other defeated politicians, John Kerry wrapped up a quavering call for unity and oneness inside his tardy concession speech. "In the days ahead, we must find common cause. We must join in common effort," quoth the fallen leader of the failed effort. Yeah, yeah, yeah, link arms with George W. Bush and … and what? Mr. Kerry’s answer was forget politics and take it up with the local divinity.

"I leave this campaign with a prayer that has even greater meaning to me now that I’ve come to know our vast country so much better thanks to all of you, and what a privilege it has been to do so," he said. "And that prayer is very simple: God bless America."

Unity and prayer. I cannot think of a less helpful farewell sentiment to leave the many thousands of first-time Democratic volunteers with. Let’s talk about unity and prayer.

9. On the contrary, now is the perfect time for national unity
The GOP needs to realize the error of its ways and start working with the Democrats to establish universal health care, a living wage, laws to ensure we have clean air and water, and a rational foreign policy that respects human rights. If our country unites behind such principles we'll have bright days ahead.

(Obviously this isn't going to occur, but it's what should be happening. :( )

8. The differences are enough for me
Granted, Kerry probably wasn't going to bring us to full-on communism or even socialism for that matter...and I suppose that is a bitter disappointment for some. He probably wasn't going to have all corporations disbanded and laws passed that American business can only do business on American soil...and he probably wasn't going to make unions mandatory for all workers and mandate all power to be solar...including cars...by 2006. He probably wouldn't have supported shutting down campaign contributions totally and demanded that all networks shutdown for two months before the elections and donate full coverage for free. Not only that, he probably couldn't be counted on to order all Americans to have socialized medicine that will be fully funded by a 90% increase in corporate taxes and those who earn $50,000 or more a year....and regrettably, he probably wasn't going to give free college tuition to all comers....or ban abortions, or appoint religious wingnuts to the Supreme Court since he is practically an infidel....

but other than those things...he probably would have been just like Bush.
