We Don't Want Dean for the DNC! (He's too good for that) |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 11:38 PM by dionysus
They'll just try to neuter him! I want to see DFA eclipse the DNC and DLC as the true voice of the Democratic Party and not be tied up for the '08 run. Believe me, with our help, he can do it! We don't need him bullshitting to raise money from corporations when he can raise in a single day more than that from the people.
Let's make no mistake, Dean is no uber-liberal like the DLC/DNC suggests, and that's fine with me. But he IS liberal. That said, he's no rethug-lite. What is painted as bat-shit-liberal-crazy today was mainstream Democrat a few decades ago, as the wise Malloy pointed out. Dean's got integrity and iron balls, something they all lack.
We need him to gain power for our next presidential run. What do you think?

22. Fine, let him "speak for himself"-- I'm with him, though |
|
As are others.
It is time for the MOTS crowd to sit back and reflect where that Conventional Wisdom has gotten the country.
It is time for change--revitalization, and a good does of passion.
Dean 08 sounds great to me-- either part of the ticket.

these guys raise large amounts from corporations. Dean does it from ppl like you and me. Don't you see? He's better than that backroom corporate bullshit. Let DFA surpass these fools and really give power back to the people. :)

Not to worry though. He won't be picked for DNC Chair. The party insiders still hate his guts for calling them out for who and what they are and for even SUGGESTING, that in a Democracy the people have the power.
More's the better for his supporters.

and they will roll over for bush more - the people must take this country back
these rich people in congress who give themselves a raise while cutting benefits for ALL the rest - they do not deserve those positions - they are not fighting for us

I agree. Way back in the primary, my candidate of choice was Kucinich, but I liked Dean's fire and passion. I think he would be neutered by the DNC.

9. I agree - I think he can do more outside of these orgs |
|
many of the delegates at the convention had expenses paid for and footed by dfa - dean got the delegates there - that is why they had to keep a lid on it - dnc message was out of synce with those present
michael moore saw that and spoke about it - dean knew they were his supporters who had stuck in there and got the momentum going
Dean has a charisma about him to bring along those who also do not fit in the mainstream - conformity mentality - joe liberman represents that Daschle represented that -
these are not the leaders who will fight back and win agains the rw - the rw are nasty mean people - we need strong leaders against their bigoted ways

Why become what needs to be radically changed. I say DFA should give the DNC a run for their lives! They have proven time and time again how ineffective they are. It will only get worse.

I'm not a Dean fan, but he is a powerful force. The best way for him to grow his influence and represent his supporters is by maintaining his independence.
2006 should be a great test for him -- if he can get people elected, he will command respect in the party no matter what title he holds. If he can't, he won't. There's no need for him to get an official DNC-approved title to do what he wants to do.

I'm so glad he didn't retreat after defeat, like others we know, and devoted himself to electing dozens of candidates nationwide this election. He's clearly in this on principle, and that's what counts.

17. I can accept either option |
|
however, if the DNC just rubberstamps Vilsack like they shunted the DINO Reid into the Senate minority leadership, it will just be more proof that they intend to become totally irrelevant to their base, meaning folks like me who work for a living.
I'll be supporting Dean's effort no matter what. He remains the best chance we have of ending DLC rule within the party.

The more money DFA raises, the more money the corporations, terrified of what Dean will do to them, will pour into the DLC as a counter. And the more money the corporations give to the DLC, the less they'll be able to give to the Republicans! You guys have this all worked out.

20. They won't succeed in neutering Howard Dean, but |
|
Howard Dean might succeed in inspiring Dems to stand up and say WHO WE ARE. He was the one who STARTED a dialogue in this campaign....before that.....it was assumed that * would just cruise to an easy win.
We NEED Howard Dean. The DNC would give him a FORUM. He would represent the National Committee for the next 4 years and represent it the way I want the Dems to be heard. Let him TELL TIM RUSSERT and TWEETY the way the REAL DEMS deal with the issues. It's going to be a long 4 years! Dean won't be shouted down and he won't be Republican Lite.
He's our best spokesman at this time, in this situation.

he can do it with DFA if we all help him. Erase those phoneys and losers. The only reason they won was because of Clinton himself, not Democratic priciples.
He showed us the people can outraise the big-money sycophants, anytime, if they'remotivated. And last I checked, thats all they do, raise money from corporations and suggest we move to the right.

25. Gov. Dean should be vice chair. I don't know if that seat exists, but |
|
he should be vice chair. Give the chair to someone who hasn't been smeared all to heck. Let Gov. Dean do the hard work with real power from a vice chair position. We Dems will know whose really in charge. The Repug base won't figure it out unless they also figure out that Cheney is in charge of our country right now and not Bush who is just a figurehead.
Sorta like how the Governorship and Lt. Governorship work in Texas where the Lt. Governor has all the power and the Governor is a figurehead (Repugs will never be able to explain this to their base without harming their opinion of Bush). Besides, Vislack would have to share his duties with governing his own state. Gov. Dean can do this full time and has an AWESOME work ethic.
Easy fix. Everybody is satisfied.

remember that Kerry was going to be the smear proof candidate? How's that working for us? Embrace your strong principaled leaders. Forget the smears....they'd smear Christ himself if he were running as a democrat.

29. Here's the conflict.... |
|
We need a DNC chair like Howard Dean to begin the desperately needed reconstructive surgery on this party so we can have a candidate like Howard Dean in 2008.
I don't know how he can do both. This is one case where cloning would really help :(
If we get another DLC appeaser as chair, the 2008 candidate will predictably suck, you can bet on that. And yes, that includes Hillary, who lost any credibility when she gave Junior a standing ovation at his state of the Union speech, for referring to Iraq as "the central front on the war on terra"

|
the current chair has run the party into the ground during the last two very winnable elections. Yes, he will not be running for president himself, but he can groom someone in his image to do the job.
