If they run Schwarzenegger, we run Parton.
Dolly Parton is Southern, a Christian, populist, a very successful businesswoman and self-made millionaire, and has always spoken up for working people and women and the poor. They run an action hero? We run a bonafide National Treasure! Parton for President!

27. When I worked as a waiter here in Nash-vegas, I met her and
she is the real deal. I don't care much for her music, but I have a lot of respect for the woman! I know this post was a joke, but most of her views are very liberal, but rooted in common sense and a true love and respect for her fellow human beings. She is the epitome of "niceness and light" until you overstep the boundries of politeness - then the gloves come off and you wake up from a coma years later. I would LOVE to see her in an interview with O'Reilly! He'd never see it coming!

But, she's a "hometown girl." She's concentrated on making her home town and the surrounding region prosperous, to bring the poor folks there out of poverty, and she's done a pretty good job. I wish we could talk her inot the National Political Spotlight, but I don't think she'd do it. Too dirty for her.

I'd still love to see her on Bill O'Reilly, though!

Naw, I say Martin Sheen. West Wing has a large following, and
lots of things that happen in the script people only wish were really the way the real world was.

Wouldn't it be a real riot to have two actors running against each other!

A bright man, a strong Democrat, and a fine actor.

9. And so many people are adicted to the TV show, he'd be a
tough guy to run against! He's managed through the show to portray his honesty in trying to do what is really right for the country. A bit sad to say, but people do respond to what they see and hear on TV!

6. From the little I've seen of her politics...
...I think she may even be to the right of Aw'no'd.

Rather than just giving us some shallow alternative to the Bush-bashing Dixie Chicks and John Mellencamp, Parton shows her class on this album by avoiding politics and instead celebrating God, our men and women in uniform, and the nation that loves them.
(-snip-)
In typical Parton fashion, she pokes fun at her two most famous assets in the album’s best number, “Gee, Ma, I Wanna Go Home.” She blows the dust off this old hit with a few verses of her own:

• “Well, now, I tried to join the Army, they said my feet were flat/And since I cannot see them, I’ll taken their word for that.”

• “Oh, the generals in the Army don’t fight like all the rest/But you should have seem ’em fight to pin this medal on my chest.”

“Yeah, these are my two secret weapons,” Parton proclaims after the latter verse, giggling. “‘Shock’ and ‘awe!’”

7. she is far from right-wing
What are Dolly's political leanings?

Well, she doesn't talk much about politics, but they appear to be more toward the liberal side than conservative. When asked pointblank in 2003 by conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly on his program if she was a conservative, she replied, "Not really," adding that she's "more patriotic than political." ... She has long advocated racial harmony and said she was a strong supporter and believer in John F. Kennedy in the 1960s. She and Porter even recorded a song in 1973 to promote the bicentennial Freedom Train, and the lyrics spoke admirably about JFK and Robert F. Kennedy as well as Martin Luther King, Jr., a rare occurrence in the conservative country community during that era. She's long been a supporter of equality for women, with several semi-feminist themed songs. She also has been a quiet (and sometimes not-so-quiet) supporter of gay rights and AIDS issues for many years. ...

But realistically, I don't think the country is ready just yet for a woman president... unfortunately.

13. Worse than Arnolds?
Of course, since she is female, she must be worse than Arnold. That might really be an interesting election. At least it would prove, once and for all, that right-wingers believe that women's infidelities and sex lives were worse than men's, at least Republican men.

24. Unless Arnold sells out on his support of...
abortion rights, gun control, stem cell research, and more. He will not get the Republican nomination. Republican primary voters will never vote for anybody that is not pro-life, except for maybe more the mroe liberal ones in NH. (Hence, progressive McCain's win in NH.)
