6. What Was He Supposed To Say?
Bush is an asshat...

Even I wouldn't call him an asshat if he came to the opening of my library....

18. I heard one of the talking heads say Lanny Davis told
Clinton he would like Bush. After the Inauguration, Clinton came up and told Lanny he was right, he did like him. I guess on a one on one level they do ok. Go figure.

12. There ya go!
Clinton is nothing if not diplomatic. I think he set the right tone for the fight the Dems face in the near future.

Congratulations on your Library President Clinton!! :toast:

7. I am sure there are more people out there then Clinton
that liked Bush and Kerry equally and just disagreed with certain policy issues, but I however am not one of them.

9. I was talking about Clinton's speech
where he said he liked both Bush and Kerry.

I was just saying some people out there did like Bush and Kerry just about equally, however there is no way in hell I am one of those people.

16. I'm sure not one of them, either
And I know nobody else who feels this way. Since he is out of office, and this was supposed to be a day of reconciliation, I think that he was trying to be inclusive. I also think that his speech was meant to send a message, that bipartisanship and working for peace in the Middle East is the most important that we need to work for. I will never underestimate President Clinton. He's a brilliant man.

13. Clinton.
He always has acted like he liked everybody to fit the idea that he doesn't attack the other side. It makes the other side look bad when they attack him in return. Whether he likes Bush or not is a mystery to me. I do think that appearaces are everything to Clinton.

19. I've never heard Clinton say a bad word about anybody
which is saying a lot.

OTH, that's one of my beefs with him; goddamnit, there's plenty to criticize in this country, so have at it.

14. In 1992, Clinton was running against a "Democrat" who wanted a flat
income tax (Brown) and another who didn't believe in deficit spending investements in infrastructure when times times were tough (Tsongas, IIRC).

As far as I'm concerned, we got the one liberal who ran for President that year, and he ended up beating Bush.

I can't believe people are complaining about that.

24. Bill Clinton...
...God bless him...is a modern day Will Rogers. He hasn't met a man (or woman) he doesn't like. This has to do with his own self-esteem and ability to look for the good in everyone. It doesn't mean that all the people he has met are, necessarily, likable.

The fact is...if someone likes you...it has more to do with their ability to focus on your positives and over-look your negatives than it does with what kind of person you are.
