What about Gore and B. Clinton running for Senate seats? |
|
Gore could coast to an easy victory, I figure, in a nice blue state. Clinton could probably win just about anywhere if he tried hard enough.
Prolly neither of them want to go back to work like that, but, Hey! it shows you’re dedicated to the country. Has any ex-President ever gone back to the Senate (I know BC wasn’t a Senator). I know John Quincy Adams went back to the House.
We should pull out the big guns in 06.

5. Let's break out the blue states with one Republican Senator |
|
and send 'em on over!
I bet Clinton could take a seat away in Arkansas.
I'd give anything, actually, to have Gore take Feinstein's seat in California! Not a party swap, but a nice step in the positive direction (I've never liked Feinstein).

11. I think Gore fits California better than Tennessee |
|
That said, I don't know much about Tennessee! (but I'd like to learn!)

is pretty much done with Politics. He's just trying to support Hillary.
As far as Gore goes.. it would have to be a blue state, and again I think he is pretty much done with politics as well.
Its a shame because they are both great men with awesome minds.

6. I think Gore has a lot left to give... |
|
and he's gonna have a hard time giving it in the private sector. He can't really pull a Jimmy Carter, but he could do something. Maybe Governor?

8. Has a former US President ever come back to office |
|
as a senator or even a govenor or ever went back to the WH as a VP? Why would they? they still get something like 400,000 a year, plus health, secret service, and security briefings.

15. Yes, a Prez can go back to other civil service |
|
To my knowledge, no former President has ever been considered for the role of Speaker. Former Presidents have returned to other positions of public service, however. For example, former President William Howard Taft was named to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Warren G. Harding and served there from 1921 - 1930. Former President Andrew Johnson was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1874. Former President John Quincy Adams was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and represented Massachusetts from 1830-1848.

13. Walter Mondale ran for Wellstone's seat in MN in 2002. |
|
Wellstone. :sigh:
Anyway, Mondale was VP from 1977-1981, and lost to Raygun in 1984. :sniff: and then lost to Norm Fucking Coleman in 2002. I suppose charisma, or lack thereof, had something to do with it. Point is, it's not like it's unprecedented.

and they moved quickly doing it.
I would have *loved* to see him take the spot. /sigh
