John Kerry's message opened not-so-old wounds
I have been in denial over the past couple of weeks. This denial had allowed the wounds caused by the most intense disappointment I have ever felt start to close up, but only on the surface. The email message that Kerry just sent ripped open that wound again, and I am almost back to square one, where I was on Nov. 3rd: disappointed on so many levels. America missed a chance to elect a president that would have been regarded by history as one of the most thoughtful, compassionate, and progressive leaders the country had ever had.

3. Is there a transcript somewhere?.....
I let my hotmail email address that would have received it lapse.
Thanks - I'll do a search to look for it too and post it if I find it.

I want to thank you personally for what you did in the election -- you rewrote the book on grassroots politics, taking control of campaigns away from big donors. No campaign will ever be the same.

You moved voters, helped hold George Bush accountable, and countered the attacks from big news organizations such as Fox, Sinclair Broadcasting, and conservative talk radio.

And your efforts count now more than ever. Despite the words of cooperation and moderate sounding promises, this administration is planning a right wing assault on values and ideals we hold most deeply. Healthy debate and diverse opinion are being eliminated from the State Department and CIA, and the cabinet is being remade to rubber stamp policies that will undermine Social Security, balloon the deficit, avoid real reforms in health care and education, weaken homeland security, and walk away from critical allies around the world.

Regardless of the outcome of this election, once all the votes are counted -- and they will be counted -- we will continue to challenge this administration. This is not a time for Democrats to retreat and accommodate extremists on critical principles -- it is a time to stand firm.

I will fight for a national standard for federal elections that has both transparency and accountability in our voting system. It's unacceptable in the United States that people still don't have full confidence in the integrity of the voting process.

I ask you to join me in this cause.

And we must fight not only against George Bush's extreme policies -- we must also uphold our own values. This is why on the first day Congress is in session next year, I will introduce a bill to provide every child in America with health insurance. And, with your help, that legislation will be accompanied by the support of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

There are more than eight million uninsured children in our nation.

That's eight million reasons for us to stay together and fight for a new direction. It is a disgrace that in the wealthiest nation on earth, eight million children go without health insurance.

Normally, a member of the Senate will first approach other senators and ask them to co-sponsor a bill before it is introduced -- instead, I am turning to you. Imagine the power of a bill co-sponsored by hundreds of thousands of Americans being presented on the floor of the United States Senate. You can make it happen. Sign our "Every Child Protected" pledge today and forward it to your family, friends, and neighbors:

http://johnkerry.com/EveryChild

This is the beginning of a second term effort to hold the Bush administration accountable and to stand up and fight for our principles and our values. They want you to disappear; they are counting on that. I'm confident you will prove them wrong, and you will rewrite history again.

Here is what I want you to know. I understand the strength, commitment, and passion that are at the core of what we built together -- and I am determined to make our collective energy and organization a force to be reckoned with in the weeks and months ahead.

Let's roll up our sleeves and get back to work for our country.

Thank you,
John Kerry

8. I have setbacks too.
But mostly because giving the Republicans more power is going to make things at home more intolerable.

13. We must forget what might've been
I spent four long years looking forward to Nov. 2, 2004. The result was intensely disappointing.

I can't be angry about this stuff any more, it poisons you after awhile. I even plan on changing my name from mad_as_hell to something calmer.

It's not that I give up or don't care. It's just what can you do? There's no sense torturing yourself. So I've tuned out of much of the political scene and rhetoric. It is all very predictable anyway.

I'll stick to DU & LBN, AAR and The Daily Show plus a scan of the local newspaper. I just don't need the rest of the blather.

Events will dictate what happens. The Republicans may crash and burn depending on the economy, terra, environmental problems, energy and so forth. Until Americans focus on real problems I fear that we'll continue down this unfortunate path.

For now I've got to focus on the small things that I can actually have an affect on. You have to find some battles that you can win.

14. tough times, these
big trouble, no easy solutions. fraud was apparent nov 2 when the exit polls did not match. to comprehend this fact is horrific. to understand that the powers that be could be so absolutely corrupt and no longer representing democracy in our country puts us in a battleground with no protocol. the media is a part of it, so chaos abounds. truth is obscure.
kerry has 20 years experience with elections, and no doubt had a plan B. to be up front with it would put him in no win situation.we are left in limbo with snippets of proof everywhere.
this could be the end my friend, we can submit and live in this time of misinformation and continue to be controlled by fear and consumerism, or we can find the patience to persevere, remain vigilant and pro active in our movement for truth justice and democracy.
kerry's silence speaks volumes for me. that he vows all votes will be counted sends a coded message and a threat to this administration

Kerry mentions about the vote and working on election reform as well as trying to count every vote.

Watch the video before you bash Kerry.

19. Kerry is a man I have the up most respect for.
I will always fight for Kerry regardless of what any of the back stabbers have to say or the repuke's. Both group's are blowing hot air and pi$$in in the wind. Kerry has always worked his A$$ off for this country and the people in it because this man has a heart and respects others. Kerry has always beleived that all Americans should be able to live the American dream not just the wealthy and privaledged. Regardless of what all the back stabbers and repukes say they cannot change the history of a great man that works hard and loves his country. Kerry would make a great president and if he was to run again I will work just as hard and support him again. But I must remind everyone this current election isn't over yet. I don't know for sure if we can prove Kerry won but I'm not giving up hope. I will only say it is over after this election is proven to be over and there is no possible chance of it being overturned. As long as there is any chance that this can be overturned however big or small I will stand and fight. Kerry is worth fighting for!
