Wesley Clark Supporters! IMPORTANT!!!
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 10:03 PM by Quixote1818
The Draft Wesley Clark movement is up and running again! Time to Draft the General one more time. Please sign the petition at link below. Please keep this kicked up to the top where it belongs!

http://www.petitiononline.com/draftwes/petition.html

Who would have beat Bush this time?? Yes, the only one who could have done it CLARK!

Who can win rural voters because he did better with rural voters than any other candidate? Clark! If a Democrat can win in Oklahoma he can win any place!

Who is the MAN to give us the leadership, open government, integrity and all the things our country needs to start to heal and move forward in the right direction? Wesley Clark!!!

Who has a 100 year plan for America which will force corporations to think about our children and grand children and keep America on TOP because we will be thinking ahead not thinking about the polls? Clark

Who talked about Democratic Values in is campaign and why Republican Values were wrong for America? Clark

Who can win the Reagan Democrats? Clark

Who can best lead us on the war on terror? Clark

Who lost 0 American soldiers in the war in Bosnia? Clark

Who was against the Iraq war and stood up to Bush? Clark!

Who graduated first in his class at West Point? Clark

Who risked his life for fellow soldiers as a four star general in Bosnia when he rappelled down a muddy hillside with enemy fire as Holbrook screamed at him to come back? Who else but Wesley Clark!

Please feel free to add on why you think Clark is the Man who should be our next president!

1. The only reason he won the Oklahoma *primary* was because
only Oklahoma Democrats were voting. If Clark were not running, some other Democrat would have won the Democratic primary.

That being said, I hope he runs again. If this comes down to Clark, Kerry and Gore version 2.0 in '08 I'm going to be both conflicted and very happy.

13. I'll want bumper stickers that say exactly that when the time comes
"Re-elect John Kerry"

Looking at my leftover stickers and buttons, I see they don't have a date on. That's a good little environmentalist. Make the buttons recyclable.

18. My daughter asked me on the 3rd "Do we have to take off our stickers
now, Daddy?"
I told her it wasn't over yet...that made her day.
At first she wasn't too crazy about him because he looked "like a big ol' sad dog".

She got mighty comfortable with that big old dog over time. :D
God'll take those bumperstickers off when it's time, I figure.

10. CLARK IS RUNNING
I watched Clark's interview on Hannity & Colmes a few minutes ago. Clark was his usual brilliant self in analyzing the Middle East situation. He was highly critical of everything Bush, sounding like a partisan democrat running for president. He wouldn't rule in (or out) a run in 2008. Said he would be speaking out as a patriotic citizen should do. Sounds to me like he is running. We can make our Clark '08 buttons by placing a small piece of tape over the 4 and coloring in the 8 with red and blue marker. It works!

9. A higher standard
I met Clark briefly when he appeared with Edwards at a campaign stop here late in august in NC. You could see he had spent many hours on the road. His voice was slightly hoarse but as I sat there listening to him I wondered what happened in this country.
You hear the questions of the day like "which candidate would you like to drink a beer with?" With the implication being the guy most like you would be the better President. What a crock.
I want a President that inspires me. I want a President that leads. I want a President that I can tell my daughters that if they continue to work hard and do good, one day they can be President. I want a President that inspires me to be a better person.

While I'd love to have the opportunity to sit down for a hour and talk with Clark over a beer, he is in no way like your average person. His resume sounds like it comes from Tom Clancy novel. Four star General US Army, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Rhodes scholar, Masters Degree in Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science, first in his class at West Point. He speaks four languages. Honorary Knighthoods from the British Government. And the Dutch.

Let’s not forget the whole part that his Dad died when he was four-years old and all he and his mom had left to their names were $400 and a car.

There are few who can relate to someone like that, but shouldn't we be looking for that? Shouldn't we want the leader of our nation to be frankly better than us?

It really seems to make all the discussion about his political affilations ridiculus (though anyone honestly looking at his positions will see how progressive he is). The man is simply a great American.

11. CLARK'S SUPPORT
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 10:23 PM by xkenx
To this day the blog on Clark's campaign website gets thousands of hits EVERY DAY. The depth of support for this man is enormous. To have been exposed to this amazing American is to be permanently committed to supporting him. For me he has been the most inspiring public figure since Bobby Kennedy.
By the way, abburdlen, Clark has Knighthoods or the equivalent from either 17 or 19 European countries!!

I don't see Dean running again and Clark already has incredible grass roots support on the net. I think he will start off as the front runner because of this.

20. I know
but seems silly to list them all out there. That would be bragging.

My favorite Clark story is when Clark was 17, the Hall High School (Little Rock, Arkansas) swim team thought their hopes of a state championship were dashed when one of the relay swimmers had to withdraw from the competition. Young Wesley volunteered to swim the first and last legs of the race. They won.

22. This is probably not going to be very popular but,
I am here in solid red Nebraska, and I'd really like to see a Wes Clark/Chuck Hagel ticket.

Hagel is going to run, and won't get far because he's not a fundie. Despite his involvemnt with diebold, I still hold him in high regard and have a lot of respect for the guy. He's one of the good guys, he cares more about the country than the party. I think he'd be a very solid addition.

Common sense, clear thinking and courage. Even when I disagree with him, I feel it's an honest disagreement, not the lying doublespeak you get from the Bush wing of the Republican party.

I don't know about unity tickets, but I really hope he doesn't get purged. The Republicans need people like him to restore their sanity.

25. a sad but nice Clark story
my friend was in NH campaigning for General Clark. While she was there, here sister and nephew were killed in a car accident in Minnesota. The campaign paid for a limo to Logan Airport in Boston and for the plane tickets home. General Clark called her personally to see how she was holding up. This is a great man.

30. Pride
How many people out there today make you proud to be an American?

Wes Clark does.

I couldn't sign that petition fast enough. I'll sign any other like it, as well. Also, my wife and I are sending him a good old-fashioned letter with the same request, in our own words. I just think that along with a long list of e-mailed names, there's something about a stack of real envelopes that draws attention to itself.

He's my strongest hope for this country's political future.

CLARK 'O8!

38. Here is my problem with signing the petition.
Please note that I haven't looked at it yet.

Anyway, I feel that we asked a great deal of Wes Clark with our last petition. I feel that he accepted what we asked and acted admirably. I will be forever grateful for what he did and my involvement in it.

That being said, I was new to being this active in politics. I was shocked by many many things. I was distraught at the attacks on Wes Clark's character on this very board. I was shocked by how he was rejected by many Democrats. I was saddened by what he and his family had to endure.

I am so conflicted about asking him to go through that again. I would have no problem saying to him "Should YOU choose to do this again, I will be one of your strongest and most ardent supporters." But, I have a problem saying "Will you once again give up what YOU want and do this for us?"

That's all. Can anyone help me with this?

he can always say No. I am sure that he would know exactly how to let us know that he wasn't interested, if he wasn't. Thus far, I have seen him do about 4 or 5 interviews on TV in the last week or so...and each time he has been asked if he might consider another run....his answer has simply not been "No". That's telling in my book.
