For Northern Floridians...Air America

Last night I discovered that after dark the Atlanta Air America Station comes in clear as a bell on 1690 AM. I was using a pocket Grundig E Traveller VII with the headphone plugged in and after midnight picked up Both Al Frankens complete broadcast as well as later hearing Randi Rhodes. Since the portable radio has only a 2.5 inch ferrite bar antenna, a larger radio, home stereo receiver or larger portable should be able o pick up the station with no problem.
I was surpised at how well I picked this station up, and it was clear for hours, which rules out temporarily unusual atmospheric oonditions causing this. For anyone who doesnt have ZM or Sirius radio, or no local access to Air America, this should suffice at least for the evening hours. I wasnt listening earlier, but the same conditions should start allowing Air America to start coming in clearly after twilight ends. With a good AM radio, even in the day, it might be possible to pick ip thie station if you are within 500 mile of it. Will keep trying using my larger portable. If you have a roof antenna and a stereo with external AM radio jacks, DAytime reception should be possible as well.

2. For the last few months

Everytime Air America added a new station someplace within range, I treid to pick it up after dark to no avail. Las night I am scanning though the AM band after most of the shortwave broadcasts to North America died down912 :30 after Radio Flanders eneded its late English Broadcast) And all of a sudden I neas something that sounds very liberqal in the vast AM Right wing wasteland. I think it sounds like Al Franken. A few minutes later I hear the grateful dead intro and know I am hearing Al. To make sure that it is not a simple rebroadcast of his show alone. I finally determine I am getting air America. The Only other liberal I ever hear is come Guy named Nate Clay out of Chicago.
