Anyone see Durbin talking about the hidden proposed IRS rules...
Buried in some bill that is sure to pass (it was something like an appropriations bill), Durbin said the Republicans had buried some new IRS rules that would grant them sweeping authority to demand ALL the IRS returns of anyone involved with virtually any organization and/or charity that they don't like.

He made the point it could be used against political groups they didn't like. It was on CSPAN-2 live today, Senate speech, just was flipping the channels and caught part of it.

If anyone knows anything about it, it apparently is about to be passed under the radar. If you have contacts in the media, please ask them to jump on this before it become law.

If I knew more details, I'd post them, but this was all I caught.

3. Dang! You beat me to it!
I caught this flipping channels also. Pretty damn frightening that something that blatant would make it into a bill and actually be signed. Yeah, right, the jackass won't enforce that part of the law.

4. I love Durbin. I gave Dukakis a shit load of money in 1988 just
before he tanked in the polls. The DNC called me up and said, dude can we give this money to Durbin in IL. They even tracked me down on the road. I asked a few questions and said sure. Had to sign all these papers. So I've followed him ever since. He's smart, very liberal, and tough in a floor fight. I am glad he's the whip. If he and Reed can play good-cop, bad-cop, it will be something to watch and the public will like them both very much.
