Do modern Dems oppose the Religious Right as strongly as Barry Goldwater?
I don't know anything about the rest of this site, but it has some great quotes from a conservative icon:

"I don't have any respect for the Religious Right."

"Every good Christian should line up and kick Jerry Falwell's ass."

"A lot of so-called conservatives don't know what the word means. They think I've turned liberal because I believe a woman has a right to an abortion. That's a decision that's up to the pregnant woman, not up to the pope or some do-gooders or the Religious Right."

Can we use this to shame our Democratic leaders into kicking at least as much Falwellian ass as freakin' more-conservative-than-thou Goldwater?

Love or hate him, he spoke his mind - Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Johnson kicked his ass in '64, but I'd rather have him in the WH than the neo fascists we have now.

3. Goldwater: "In your heart...
you know he was right at least some of the time!" At least he had the courage of his convictions and unlike Bu**sh** could not be bought and sold into forming unholy alliances with religious extremists.

4. When they asked Goldwater about gays in the military
he said all he cared about was how well they could shoot.

The fundies were outraged!
