Sunday Morning news shows: What we learned
We learned:

from MTP: McCain is the media favorite to run in 2008.

from: MTP: Scheuer, author of American Hubris is a malcontent who wants to "blame Israel". AND How dare he write a book critical of the pResident.

from CNN:Hillary is running for pres...Bill is trying to "spin" his legacy.

From CNN: Our brave pResident rescued his own body guard from a scuffle.

From CNN: The big deal in Congress is the Security bill....no mention of the "Omnibus Spending Bill" and the nasty little secrets contained therein.

Welcome to the parallel universe.

Next Sunday, I'll put classical music on and keep the friggin TV off...not just the cable channels ALL OF IT!

1. Why bother? It has devolved into utter propaganda.
The corporate media must be destroyed.

14. It's not much but..
If you have digital cable or satellite, you can catch http://bbcamerica.com/genre/news/bbc_world_news/bbc_world_news.jsp">BBC World News. I find even from just a half hour broadcast I can learn so much more then the spin that comes out of the American media.

24. Or get a shortwave radio, my salvation...
This morning I heard a long inteview with the Pres. of Columbia and how he LOVES having the US in there....pointed questions from the interviewer AND the public, from all over the world. Love it..."Talking Point" is the name and you can listen to the archive over at the BBC World Service homepage and lots of other good shows, too, like "Assignment."

Yesterday I heard a long interview with MP Parrish who stepped on the Bush doll...slamming Bush and the Canadian asskissing of Bush. Great to hear her!!! That was on Radio Canada Intl.

17. can we sign up, then change mind (no cash involved)
as plan to damage mediawhores? christ, there must be some way to damage criminally run orgs. who depend on random public linkups....if tens/thousands begin signup process, then cancel (noting due to their bushevik bias) it would cause some common sense return to their boardrooms, wouldn't it?
otoh, no, there's nothing to be done, the bastards won...

25. The reason to bother is that we need to know what we are up against.
We need to know what the average American is being fed and believing.

3. I think there's a thread on it
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 11:21 AM by ewagner
but apparently Chilean security officials tried to keep some of Dubya's body guards out of a State Dinner. A scuffle ensued and Dubya broke away and told the Chileans that the body guard was "with me" and brought him inside with him....

lemme see if I can find the thread.

on edit: Here's the thread:

4. Yeah, I watched russert play that "blame the Jews" card.

All but accused the guy of being anti-Semitic right
there on my TV screen. I don't know why I was shocked.
Russert makes a lot of money being a ho.

I was watching completely by accident. The TV was
on that channel when I woke up this morning, and
Scheuer was on there.

I haven't intentionally watched ANY of those shows
since November 3. I won't. None of it.

5. I was stunned
by Russert's entire attitude.....it was "how dare you criticize the pResident???" That was the overriding theme. :grr:

7. Timmy-ho didn't come close to laying a glove on Scheuer tho.

It seemed to me like the intel guy was having a jolly old
time toying with Tim-meh. Like you could almost see the intel
guy thinking "this guy is supposed to be the best there is?"

Thanks for the thread. I was hoping somebody else noticed
that.

6. What I heard from McCain segment on MTP
Edited on Sun Nov-21-04 11:25 AM by pinkpops
Russert mentioned the Osama tape - said someone (Kerry?) mentioned at the Clinton Library launch that the tape had cost him the election.
McCain said no, it was blah blah. Put that aside -

Does the Osama tape scenerio have a hidden inference that people changed their mind at the last minute, hence give the misimpression that the poll discrepencies suggesting voter fraud refer to polls taken before the election rather than exit polls, which indicate that the OBL tape had no effect or even a pro-Kerry effect?

9. The "article" in NewsMax is pretty over the top..

"Bush to Arrogant Chileans: Hands Off My Guards

In an extraordinary display of physical bravado, President Bush personally overrode Chilean security officials Saturday night who were blocking his Secret Service bodyguards from accompanying him to a state dinner in Santiago.

snip

Looking annoyed, Bush proceeded to straighten his shirt cuffs and returned to the dinner."

10. ABC and Stephie's Crew Chewed Bush
Will says there will be no attack on Iran.
Iran needs nukes as all it neighbors do.
Colin's departure was bad.
Condi's rise bad.
Bush is not allowing dissent, bad.
Really down on most fronts, few smiles or positive assessments.

Dowd, Woodward, Will, some other guy all were very negative on Bush.

Don't just tell me what it is. Tell me why. Give me
reasons. Don't just sit there and act like a descriptive
adjective not followed by an explanation is enough. It's not.

I've had moments of liking her column, but most of
the time she just bothers me -- for reasons I won't go into
because to me she's not worth having an argument over.

Oh, well. To each their own.

15. So I'm not the only one who gets nothing from cable these days?
Perhaps all DU'ers' should make a point of ending cable at the same time next week, and say exactly why when they call the cable companies.

I'm going to tell them the news is bogus and the only thing I watched was Oberman and Democracy Now, and since the latter has been taken off local cable and I can get it on-line, why bother. As much as I appreciate Oberman, who wan'ts to pay 50 dollars for one show?

You can find more interesting news media on-line anyway.

Just imagine your life with just this media and not the assault of lies that you find on basic cable.

18. Juan Williams wants to beat up Brit Hume for cutting him off
Faux Snooze Sunday's panel is always amusing from a disgusting angle when Brit Hume talks down to Juan Williams and is surprised when Juan brings up issues that were told not to be brought up in the News Brief memo...like DeLay's little Ethics trick and the spiraling deficit.

Brit just cuts him off and when it gets too hot, Mike Wallace calls for a commercial break.

Disgusting. As usual.

They should bring back Tony Snow and be done with the

21. Is PNAC going after the UN or is it me?
From the couple minutes that I could stand to watch of slimey Bill Kristol and company - it looks an awful lot like they are trying to overthrow the UN on the grounds of Kofi Annan pardonning an official of misconduct charges.

These people are eff'ing terrifing - I fear for the planet today...
