What's wrong with giving them everything they want?
Republikans want to "protect marriage", so we pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, as well as outlawing divorce and adultery. We'll just go straight Scarlett Letter and get it over with.

Republikans want to end abortion, so we give them that and outlaw condoms, etal as well. Sex, by law, is now for the purpose of pro-creation ONLY. Just like the baby jebus wanted it.

Repulikans want a flag burning amendment, so it's their's ... with language attached that says badmouthing a pResident during war-time is treason.

Erect a monument in DC to McCarthy! Rename a state to "Reagan"! Publicly burn any statue that has breasts on it! Fuck it, just go nuts!

I'm sure I haven't thought it all the way through, so help me figure out what might be wrong with the democrats taking this approach?

1. Are you ready
for the "re-education camps?" My mother survived the Nazis and this boy ain't going quietly.

3. I have seriously considered this approach, but
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 07:35 PM by enough
I think the real danger is the inexorable change in what is considered to be NORMAL. The populace seems willing to accept just about anything that is thrown at them, and to assume that this is the way it's supposed to be. Then the next step toward repression and state terrorism becomes that much easier.

4. I've been advocating this
But by stealth. Convincing the most rabid Senators and Reps. to introduce stuff that is, as yet, totally off the wall.

I say, "Get out in front of it before it is considered normal."

6. The same thing that is wrong with watching a rape
but doing nothing.

It's one thing to wish the perpetrator his just deserts. It's another thing entirely to allow an innocent to be victimized.

I'd love to allow Bushco to be exposed for what they are. But I can't stomach the pain of the millions of innocent children who would pay the price of that lesson.

Even if I know I'm going to lose...I must try and stop them before they kill again.

10. We don't actually believe in it, we just want to expose it ...
... the thinking being that as soon as the ideas of that core 20% or so of the hard right is in place, people will run screaming from it and move further left. We (the left) don't actually AGREE with it.

Julie's (JNelson6563) point about "How is it different from what the Dems are already doing" is valid, hehe ... I guess by "we" I meant actual liberals, not the Lieberman/Miller types.

But Protagoras's point about watching a rape might have stirred me into thinking this is a bad idea.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

12. Fuk that !!!

No way. I won't roll over and take this. Nobody should.

We're talking about the future of the world as we know it.

In 2000 George W. Bush staged a takeover of this country. We are now controlled by the oil industry, the energy industry, and the Bin Ladens.

The Christian Conservative Terrorist Regime is the biggest threat to the world since Adolff Hitler. This affects more than America, it affects everyone.

Do everything you can. Anything to get our message across, even if you're just mouthing off to some drunkard in a bar, every little bit helps.

13. Heighten the contrast
http://vodp.blogspot.com/2004/11/things-must-get-much-worse-before-they.html

...Let's encourage privatizing Social Security. This can't be done without cutting seniors' benefits. Sorry, but they voted for Bush (60 and older, 53%/46% for Bush). You can no longer rob Peter to pay Paul (balanced budgets and all). Therefore, first cut COLAs entirely. Then we'll see how much more we need to cut to offset the private savings accounts. Remember, the young voted for Kerry (18-29 year olds, 54%/44% Kerry). Why should they support the old fogies who voted for Bush? Now, I know that you'll say, "They worked for it, they earned", but it's not like they weren't warned (what do you think 'private savings accounts' means?). A few years eating dog food might make them reconsider 'Moral values' as their top issue. Sorry, but things must get much worse before they get better...
