Is this too good to be true? Could he be the first hypocrite to go down under the new morality? Or is he too slippery, like lube? I hate this pile of "anal sludge". (Goggle "Santorum" for reference to sludge/lube-yuk)

If we can get a democratic prosecutor to subpoena his records he could be in for some big trouble.

Some things to consider off the top of my head:

1). He most likely had to sign an affidavit for his homeowners property tax exemption that he admits receiving on the Pen Hills, Pa. property: PERJURY.

2). The Pen Hills school tuition reimbursement: clearly FRAUD. I'm sure he had to sign some sort of affidavit for this reimbursement: PERJURY.

3). If he has fraudulently written off the Pennsylvania address as his primary residence on his federal returns: FRAUD/PERJURY/Filling false tax returns. Or, if he is really greedy, he may have written off the larger mortgage/property taxes on the larger Va. home as the primary residence since the tax savings would be more significant. Then, he would be totally screwed if his documents conflict each other.

Given the fairly large sums of money are involved in the Penn Hills school district, it shouldn't be that hard to get the ball rolling with an investigation and subpoena his records to determine if he did in fact use the Leesburg, Va. address as his primary residence. It's not unprecedented for a municipality or school district to ask to see federal returns for property tax exemption and tuition investigations. I assume he is dropping the subject so fast and offering to return the money because he doesn't have his ducks in a row. Well, the law is the law and saying "do over" doesn't cut the mustard in our new ultra moral society. We need an investigation.

They need to start with the "actual" residents of the Penn Hills home and get them on record under oath. Next, they need to move on to his records(travel/credit cards) to try to place him where he and his children were on certain dates. Logs of when and where the kids signed on to the cyber school could be, I assume, fairly easy to determine.

It's hard to believe that someone in his position is stupid enough to pull this stunt but look at Carol Mosley Braun(pocketed mother's inheritance money when it should have gone to reimburse Illinois for nursing home fees) and Dan Rostenkowski (misappropriated stamps and went to the slammer). These are only a few examples off the top of my head from memory.

Santorum says he will give in to avoid a court case.

Oh boy oh boy..please DO take it to court Ricky....please be that stupid...please please:

"my only remedy would be to go to court, but at this point, I don't believe I want to go that route.''- Sen. Rick Santorum

3. That is what we need. Someone from Pa. to take this
piece of crap to court. A Pa. resident who wanted to file suit would work just fine if the agencies involved don't pick up the ball.

2. Oooo...
Some hot shit lawyer would have a field day with him in discovery. That could be a new spectator sport.

4. Santorum claims they come to this 2 bedroom house for holidays?
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 11:50 PM by Divernan
Yeah - sure! I'd like to see him prove that outrageous claim. Him, his wife, their six kids and their two renters would certainly have very intimate holiday celebrations, wouldn't they!

And when he claims HE spends 100 days a year in Pennsylvania, he is absolutely including every visit to the state and not just Penn Hills. Knowing the Republican penchant for twisting the facts, he's probably counting those days he flies over or drives through Pennsylvania on his way somewhere else, like to the Opus Dei "motherhouse" in Manhattan. No wait, women have to enter that building through a side door - so we should refer to it as the "fatherhouse".

6. What might be worthwhile is to contact the woman in this story,
Erin Vecchio, and determine what kind of help she needs. She's on the ground THERE, as a thorn in his side. What could we do to support her? Extend her reach? Back her up? Letters to the editor? Emails to anyone in particular? Adding weight to her efforts? Encourage a groundswell?

This reminds me of the image in whichever Jurassic Park movie it was - where the bad guy, a big, strong, tall, hulk of a human, was overwhelmed - and consumed - by all these relentless, bloodthirsty, hungry, single-minded little carnivores. By themselves as individuals, or in twos and threes, these little critters were no match for him. But en masse, as a swarm, they were utterly unbeatable.

7. I've been sending the story to as many media outlets as possible.
This seems like a good story for Olbermann.

Hopefully the national media will pick up on it and spur an investigation. We need to bring down as many of these repug hypocrites as possible by exposing their lack of morals and disregard for the rules everyone else has to play by.

This seems like a good issue to get Santorum on since it is easy for Joe six pack to understand and there should be a sufficient paper trail.

Shame on you Ricky for defrauding those poor little school children of their milk money.

9. How the hell did Pennsylvania elect this jerk?
I tend to expect better of them. I think even our greedy Repug Senators are somewhat better than Santorum, and I live in what would normally be regarded as political hell.
