I have a hard core republican friend. We don't talk politics because |
|
when we are around each other, we are usually around our other friends, who are more of the ignore-politics crowd, so they don't appreciate it and it get's really bad quick. But when we don't bring politics up, we all have a great time, like tonight.
But a few times we got a few jabs out. I was able in to weasle in a conversation about Nazi Germany which led me to say Hitler was the worst dictator of our time, save Bush. He laughed, but he knew what was up. The real attention getter for me wasn't that stuff. We just joke around anyway in cases like that. But for once it was my other friends who brought up the topic of the sinking dollar (this goes to show that they are beginning to notice). I almost felt like crying when he said the sinking dollar was the best thing to happen to the economy right now because it would make businesses hire more people, or some garbage like that. I really felt liek mentionning that if you went by that theory you would also need to raise the minumum wage, or else be guilty of pseude-slave labour. Then I remembered he doesn't like Bush because he has been fooled by him, he likes Bush for what he really is, an Emperor, or something of that sort. I am not kidding. We have had the discussion about the US as an Empire, and he agreed that it was, but he said he wanted it that way.
Well, that's my story, but I decided that if this reads well and with decent responses, I'll write about other times I hang out. I always find it amazing to learn what my friend believes, and how my other friends have absolutlely no interest in the force that guides their lives...

1. No worries, I have morans for friends too. However, now I am |
|
not spending too much time with them. It's dishonest to be friends with bigots, homophobes, mysogynists, arrogant silver-spoons, and the like when I don't subscribe to that horseshit.
Believe me, they'll feel the idiocy of Bush soon enough, it cannot be stopped.

3. It's your call. I made mine and it feels right. |

Why should friends have to avoid the most important conversations that we could have because one side is competely unreasonable and ignorant and arrogant and selfish.
The whirlwind is on the way.

6. I HAD a Republican friend |
|
I had a nasty habit of posting actual facts with their sources on my LJ. He didn't much care for it, recounting with made up "facts" from God knows where. The few times he actually posted real facts, they helped MY case. Moron.
He got mad when I put up an upside-down flag icon (he wasn't aware what it meant) and put up some pictures of injured Iraqi children and mentioned the 100,000 dead and innocent civilians. This was after the documented evidence about why we didn't need to attack Iraq.
I was informed that the civilian deaths in Germany made that war wrong. Not that my logic inferred that. His grammar is either terrible or he's an idiot. I'll go for both.
Comparing the Iraq war to World War 2 did it for me as well. He told me I was as dead to him as America was to me, because he seems to think America is dead to me. Ugh. No big loss, but I've known him since high school.
The thing that's saddening is I was always scared he'd end up being a bitter and foolish guy (something I'm constantly worried about myself). The villains from movies who think they're actually helping, but their so blinded by "virtue" and so shrivelled and bitter at the world that's done so much to them. That's what he's become.
Also, and I'm sure you've stopped reading by now, but he's in the moral values crowd. Cites the bible as defense for his Gay Marriage vote. But then claims this country has given us more than we deserve. This COUNTRY. If you're going to give me bullshit excuses from the bible about your intolerance, at least have the decency to give credit to God for your happiness.
