unopposed REPUBLICAN candidate in TX spent more than Tom Delay??

Help me understand why a republican with no democratic candidate running against him need to spend as much or more as Tom Delay did on his campaign?

I am in one of the counties he was running in, and I didnt see his signs.

Whazzup with this?

I also noticed that a LOT if not most of the money was his own? Does this benefit someone in some way to move your money like this? What did he spend it on? Did anyone in the Houston Area see a big Campaign? How about North Austin? (yes! due to resditricting NW Harris/Houston and North Austin are in same district).

Any of you gumshoes know the answer to this???

2. Much of it spent during the GOP primary

which was tantamount to election in that district.

He and his primary opponent, Ben Streusand, went Fallujah on each other, carpet-bombing on radio and TV, calling each other soft on terror, seeing which one could snuggle up closer to Boosh, and generally burying each other in mud so deep I'm surprised he doesn't still look dirty in that picture.

That has voiced an interest....

I'm going to talk to him in person in a couple weeks. Had lunch with him and Ruben Hinojosa on Election day. Will not recommend him until I see more of what he is about.
