WTF...Ridge resignation is "below the media radar" or what?
Ridge's resignation is buried as a tiny paragraph at the bottom of MSNBC's "Bush Kills Turkey, Pardons Tom DeLay" article. This STINKS of "satire"...and MSNBC's nose has been FIRMLY PLANTED on George W. Bush's anus for the last six months, so they are functioning as a parody of themselves.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6567178/site/newsweek/

Nov. 23 - President George W. Bush broke with White House tradition today, killing the ceremonial White House turkey and pardoning House Majority Leader Tom DeLay instead.

"I have political capital, and I intend to spend it—first by killing, and then by eating, this delectable turkey," Bush announced to the stunned onlookers, who watched as Biscuits was dragged away by two burly Secret Service agents.

Bush then said that he would use his traditional Thanksgiving pardon to free DeLay should he be indicted for political corruption charges in Texas, and then paraded the Texas congressman across the lawn to complete the festive holiday ceremony.

Elsewhere, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge announced his resignation today but said he had "no specific information" about when or where his resignation would take place.

1. You should have added this...
it's at the very bottom about the writer of the article.

"Andy Borowitz is the author of The Borowitz Report, and the winner of the National Press Club's humor award."

2. Nice to know MSNBC has decided to go after
Jon Stewart.

That's a higher standard for them.

Sort of a lo-rent Dave Barry. I don't know how he keeps getting work. His stuff has never seemed remotely funny to me.

6. C'mon now... Andy Borowitz is NBC/MSNBC's "Humor" guy.
He also makes frequent appearances as my favorite snarky panel member on CNN's "90 Second Pop."

Although, I do think Andy's making your point. The Ridge resignation remains under the media's radar, and for reasons I'm sure Bush approved ordered is thankful for.

:D

8. Has he resigned?
I saw him on TV yesterday, refusing to answer whether he would or not. Can't find any online news reports about it either.

9. From November 16: CNN Reports Tom Ridge Has Resigned
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 08:17 PM by VolcanoJen
Wow... what a mystery. Did he, or didn't he?

Can't find it on the CNN page anymore, of course, but it was picked up by many mainstream sources, including this one, from November 16:

http://www.foxreno.com/news/3921840/detail.html

AFP (via The Australian Financial Review) first reported on November 21 that Ridge will resign early next year. The story quotes Newsweek as its source; lots of good stuff in this article:

http://afr.com/articles/2004/11/22/1100972288853.html

Excerpt:

US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge will likely resign early next year after which he will probably take a plum job with a defence contractor or well-connected law firm, according to Newsweek magazine.

Some political observers believe Ridge will leave the administration of US President George Bush in the near future and Newsweek said his "most frequently" mentioned replacement is Fran Townsend, a Homeland Security coordinator at the White House.

"Like (Secretary of State nominee) Condoleezza Rice and (Attorney General nominee) Alberto Gonzales, she's a skillful operator who has convinced Bush of her personal loyalty," the news magazine says in its edition released this week.

"The rumour mill says private-sector billets for Ridge could include top jobs with a big defence contractor or a politically connected Philadelphia law firm that works on homeland security," it said.

As early as July 2004, Ridge speculated publicly that he might resign:

10. Thank you, VJ
He's one I've expected will go. I thought there had been an announcement I'd missed (I'm in Japan and don't get regular access to US media).
