if i were running for office, i'd ... |

avoid the use of the subjunctive.
no, seriously, what you do? what would you run on?
personally, i'd run on a platform of RESTORING DEMOCRACY. restoring confidence in our elections. restoring confidence in the way our parties operate. restoring confidence in the way the media presents the issues.
if anyone asked about my stance on something controversial and sensationalistic like abortion, i would say, "what does it matter? 'they' will decide whatever 'they' want, and 'you' don't have a say in the matter, UNLESS you insist on elections that WORK, on votes that actually COUNT, and on politicians that actually LISTEN."
MAYBE i'd get in a few jabs about needing to reduce the deficit.
if asked about national defense, i'd get all a-swagger and boast that "NO one challenges ME when it comes to national defense" because it's all boasting and posturing anyway. ANY president would fight any war that was actually a matter of national defense. it's the optional wars that politicians differ on, and for that, we're back to the previous position, which is, once again, "what does it matter? 'they' will decide whatever 'they' want, and 'you' don't have a say in the matter, UNLESS you insist on elections that WORK, on votes that actually COUNT, and on politicians that actually LISTEN."
so what's YOUR platform?

those in power are fucking everyone else. Whether it be those in power in government or corporate board rooms, they are making harder for the person who just works hard to support their families.
