John Kerry called us last night |
|
We had a party for the really dedicated volunteers from the campaign, those who put in 100 hours or more. We had around 40-45 people gathered. My fellow staffer had told me that she'd called Sen Kerry's office in Washington, told them about the party, what great work these volunteers had done, how our county was blue as a result of that work. So around 8:30 the Sen himself called, spoke to us on speaker-phone for nearly 10 minutes. He was great, thanked us for our effort, described some of the plans he'd had for his transition team/administration, how we'd come so close to winning (the number of votes he mentioned was 30-50K hmm). He also mentioned that he's still got plenty of lawyers on the payroll. This was just so cool, that he would take the time to speak to a small group of us. It really meant a lot to our volunteers.

Thanks for your efforts. I'm glad Kerry took the time to call some of his hardest working supporters. That is cool. However, thanks from the rest of us also for your efforts. Lets not give up.

It is to bad he couldn't speak to all of us personally but that would be almost impossible. I would give anything to speak to him in person. You and your group are lucky Dave. I will never give up on Kerry I will always have his back!

I won't give up on Kerry. I voted for him. He ran a clean campaign and I simply refuse to believe that he isn't still fighting for us unless I see something that proves otherwise.

8. GREAT/WONDERFUL... But |
|
what plans do you have? I also worked my heart out to elect him. I live smack dab in the middle of Repukes! I live in Sarasota County, my representative is Katherine Harris. Something that most Duer's must know by now. I've posted it everywhere!!
I'm told to contact my representatives! What a joke... she doesn't care, I'm a Democrat! I went to see Kerry the Sunday before the election and shook hands with him at a Rally in Tampa. I felt he was going to win the election after that Rally. I had also gone to see Edwards in St. Pete and got to shake hands with him. We were so PUMPED and things looked so promising.
I really don't think Bush won Florida, but NOTHING... NOTHING is really getting done. I'm boycotting, I'm very vocal, I still have my bumper stickers on my car, plus a few more SINCE the election, but I'm so FRUSTRATED!! Bush as Prez., Bush as Gov., and Harris as Rep.! Three strikes and I'm OUT!!! And Nelson says Martinez is a GREAT guy and he's looking forward to working with him!!! DEFLATE MY BALLOON!
Our family isn't even celebrating Thanksgiving because we don't feel very thankful! I don't think the outcome will change, but I want to do something to let the WORLD know how many of us feel CHEATED! Protesting is all I know, but I won't go on Inauguration Day. I can't bear the thought of being THAT close to BUSH et al!!

10. I understand, chicib1 |

I really and truly do. It seems as though things are moving so slowly, doesn't it? I check the 'net about a million times a day, waiting for the word to take to the streets, waiting for some good news.
But...
But...
I am also sending out emails. I'm creating my own database of elected officials. I am writing letters.
And Thanksgiving? We are having it. Fuck Bush. He's not taking away my hope.
BTW, I suffer from depression and Kerry's loss hit me really hard. I was down for days trying to get the energy to care. But I have to keep moving and I can do something.
Get involved and write letters. Forget your elected officials because they are useless crooks. Find out the House and Senate officials who are on committees and write them. Hell, write every Dem official that you can find.
Believe me, it will help you to not feel so helpless, hopeless and angry.

For the encouragement, I'm doing what I can. I've signed up to go to a meet-up next week, and my daughter and I are doing our share to be extremely vocal about our opinions. But, depression does loom EVERYDAY. I have no answers, but keeping busy on the Net is helpful,
I'm "linked" to so many places, it's hard to keep up, BUT STILL NO ACTION! Thanks again!

29. I know. It is so hard because I want to do more than type |
|
All I do anymore is type. Type, type, type. And talk, talk, talk. People around me think that I'm crazy. All the while I feel like crying and/or ramming my car into the rear end of that stupid truck that I always get behind going home with the bush bumper stickers!
We have to keep supporting one another. We have to. We won't make it otherwise.

Jim Moran (moron) is my rep, John Warner one senator, and have a democratic governor who can't run again. Do what helped me: get invoved in the vote fraud investigations. Surely there's some leg work you can do in FL to help Bev & Co. Hang in there!

As Tom Petty said... I Won't Back Down! I just can't beleive what has happened in America 2004. I'm a "boomer" and remember Viet Nam well. I lived at Ft. Hood, TX when Jane Fonda came there. But we seemed to have much more leverage back then. Today, it seems so hopeless, especially because of the MEMORIES!

My family isn't celebrating Thanksgiving because we don't feel we have anything to celebrate or be cheerful about. I live in TN. but I was born and raised in Orlando, Fla. and still have family there. I wish I still lived there because even as bad as it is there right now and I know it's not good you ought to try living in TN. for a little while. Trust me it is a hell of alot worse here. I hate this this damn place. There is alot of KKK crap here. My parents are from Bristol,TN. and they moved back here when I was 14 almost 15 so I had no choice at the time. My husband is from here and I have been trying to talk him into moving up north. Eventually I will suceed in getting the hell out of this $hitty state. Trust me I won't give up until I do. But all of my family that is in Fla. still are so devastated over this but they are trying to not give up. They are like me and feel that Kerry is doing more than what people think. They have all been raising Hell about Nelson and writing him. It's like they and many others say Nelson should be working like so many others to help get to the bottom of what happen and who did it. Nelson should be trying to help Kerry and Castor not kiss the Bush's and Martinez a$$. As for Harris is like one of my uncle's said it is just to bad the guy driving that car swirved the other way it's reall to bad he didn't follow through with what he had in mind. Kerry is and always will be on our side. He has our back and we should have his. So don't give up hope.

could be worse. I'm still with Kerry and Florida does have it "spots" for the Democrats, but it ain't here in Sarasota County!
I will divulge a little secret... we actually THOUGHT Harris was going down!! When I was campaigning, we got GREAT response! But, once again... it's Cruella! I was watching county by county on election night and all of a sudden 40,000 votes got dumped into her column! I KNOW this place was Rigged.
As for Nelson and the others, I've written them and not one of them have written back. We called the State Headquarters and nothing still! Nelson is too busy saving his butt! He will be getting a lot of competition, but still I never thought he would "sell-out!"

Thanksgiving! You have things to be thankful for, you truly do. We all do.
I thank God for this site. If I couldn't come here, I don't know how I would get by. When I found this site, it was wonderful. Finally, a group of people who hated Bush as much as I did! Progressives who want to do something!
Yes, we may argue among ourselves but let a freeper come in and we unite and turn on them in a heartbeat. We take care of each other. How many posts have I seen where DUers come to the aid of other posters, offerring condolences, offering to pray or offerring words of encouragement?
I am thankful for DU and I am thankful that I have the internet and that I can use mail merge to send out emails to my officials, those elected and those "elected." ;)
Seriously, don't let the BFEE ruin your holiday. Fuck him. Fuck all of those neocons. We are down but we aren't out yet.

Everyone worked their a$$ off on this campaign including Kerry. None of us have anything to be ashamed of or to be questioning ourselves what we did wrong or what Kerry did wrong. We didn't do anything wrong and neither did Kerry. We all won this election as a team and it was stolen. None of us didn't have to give up any values to win anything and those around here that think we lost this because of Kerry being from the north instead of the south, or the swifty liars, or because he didn't take Clinton's advise and turn on gays and support the ban on gay marriage, ect. These are the people that need to take the blinders off and quit playing the blame game and face reality this election was not lost it was won and then stolen! And rather than coming out fighting they would rather elect themselves god, judge, and jury and do all the name calling and make all nasty remarks about Kerry and those of us that refuse to turn our backs on him, stand up for him, and support him. We all need to stand up and fight and stand behind Kerry and contiue to support him regardless of what some have to say he is still a strong team player that we need on our side and he will continue to be.

Kerry was a great candidate--clean, positive, full of plans, calm under fire, and, I think, calmer still at the stolen election. The Democrats across the country did a great job, and WE WON! We won the election despite every dirty trick the opposition could pull. We have all the values of the deluded Bush voters, and a few dozen besides.
And we are the majority. I don't know by how much. *Do Not* believe the post election analyses of what we did wrong. We did right, and we won. I cannot stress that enough.

Many Americans feel the way that we do - they don't want war or a depression. The election was stolen.
I was proud of Kerry for remaining calm. Things could have been handled differently here and there but overall he made me proud to support him.
