OHIO JUDGE DENIES RECOUNT REQUEST
Ohio judge denies recount request
Action must wait until after final tally complete
Wednesday, November 24, 2004 Posted: 7:55 AM EST (1255 GMT)

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- A federal judge denied a request by third-party presidential candidates who wanted to force a recount of Ohio ballots even before the official count was finished.

Judge James G. Carr in Toledo ruled Tuesday that the candidates have a right under Ohio law to a recount, but said it can wait. The judge wrote that he saw no reason to interfere with the final stages of Ohio's electoral process. Officials have said the results will be certified by December 6.

The lawsuit by Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik had asked Carr to issue an order requiring Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to immediately begin a statewide recount of November 2 voting results.

2. things are finally coming into focus.
with diebold in place and a ministry of information is in place dictators no longer need to worry about voters going astray. and if they do they have appointed crooked judges to stop any looking into irregularities.

4. For Now...he only ruled they cannot start a recount until the final count
certified. That will be next week (by 12/6)

Then the recount is refiled and begun

6. Right - hard to have a REcount before the count is official
But this lawsuit helps force the State to get prepared for the recount and takes away their excuse that they weren't on notice.

9. stupid question here...
why the hell does it take so damn long to count votes? Is this normal?

Cripes, if it was Halliburton $ that had to be counted, they'd have it done in 10 minutes down to the nickel.

bill maher said something to the effect of: Why are bank machines so accurate and voting machines can't be? can you imagine if your receipt of a transaction wasn't accurate and the bank would just let it go and say close enough! not fricken likely! But errors are just assumed to be normal, this way that way, harumph, big deal, in vote counting.

what a fiasco.
