My God the Ukrainian election coverage hypocrisy ...
Edited on Sat Nov-27-04 01:15 AM by SHRED
by the USA media is overwhelming...isn't it?

The Ukraine crisis is for the Ukrainians to decide

It is not the business of Washington or London or Ottawa to decide whether they accept the election results in the Ukraine. It is for the sovereign Ukrainian institutions to solve the process through the proper and existing legislative process, namely an examination of the complaints by the supreme court and the subsequent publishing of the results.

After this, the new President will be announced. It is a simple, clear process and the Ukrainians are capable of solving their own problems without outside interference from the countries who are dying to install Yushchenko, no doubt so that lucrative arms contracts can be delivered to NATO and military bases set up on Russia's borders.

Therefore the declaration by a number of western countries that they did not accept the result obtained by the Ukrainian Central Election Committee is ludicrous. What if the rest of the world tells the United States of America that it does not accept the result of the ballot in Ohio because it was rigged?

And who is Tony Blair to make any declarations, now that members of his own party wish to impeach him for gross misconduct in leading the country into an illegal act of butchery in Iraq baced on barefaced lies?

2. "a rampant and militant Washington,
crushed in the grip on a monetarist, neo-conservative crypto-fascist clique of elitists, whose corporate greed speaks louder than the mores of internacional diplomacy and whose thirst to dominate the
world's resources in the lifetimes of Rumsfeld and Cheney throws any moral concept into the trash bin."

Spot on.

3. It's starting to freak me out a bit
Today's statements by Bush kind of shoved me over the edge. It's true "through the looking glass" material.

Logic tells me that something big must be about to break related to OUR election. Why else would * be pumping the Ukraine election problems? He doesn't have to.

Bust wants to protest the results in Ukraine because he wants to install military bases there.
But at least some seem to realize ballot in OH was rigged.

10. Pot, Kettle, Black
No, these guys do not understand those words. They are so far above everyone else, in their opinion, that they cannot be proven wrong. So, whatever they do is ok.

5. You are a puppet of the Russians.
I wouldn't give two kopeks for anything coming out of state-owned Russian newspapers such as Pravda. Hard to believe there is anything more biased than FOX (faux news), but Pravda can out do them any day of the week.

The current government bodies of Ukraine, such as the election commission are corrupt as the day is long. Coverage of Yushchenko on Urkainian TV channels was totally missing unless it was negative. That is until a couple days ago when One Plus One and Canal 5 decided to hell with the goverment direction of what they could and could not air and they decided to start showing an unbiased view of the opposition activities.

Of course Russia wants to tout this line that the uprising of Ukrainians against a clearly rigged election is somehow driven by the West. Hogwash! It's driven by people wanting their country back and an end to the decades of rape and pillage by the Russians, the killing of millions of their citizens, the forced collectivisation of their farms, the confiscatory tax on all property, including stuff like fruit trees for crissakes!! The forced migration of Russians in the east taking over their country, the forced industrialization (you think Pittsburgh is bad, wait until you've seen an area industrialized by the RUssians!).

Vivat Ukraina!

7. Long live Ukraine
The only difference between Pravda and Faux News is that Pravda can be used for wrapping fish.

FRAUD in Ukraine-well, that ain't Russia touting some sort of line. That's pretty clear, right then and there, who US wants to win the election. Geez!
If Bush wants the other guy-well, I sure have a lot of concerns about the other guy. And you should too!

11. On the Jim Lehrer News Hour last night
they interviewed the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk. Kravchuk said that this protesting has to stop for the "good of the country" because parts of the country are ready to secede. As Kravchuk was leaving, the reporter said (paraphrasing) "None of what he just said was true." It was shocking and refreshing at the same time. Calling things like they are. It's easier to call someone else a liar and hypocrite than to look at your own.

Although it's true that some of the regional (oblasty) Mayors' have said they were willing to secede and become a part of Russia, the people have said that they will have none of that. Everyone is united as Ukrainians. For a country that has had so many factions, it's truly remarkable. But then again, as I said before, people are willing to fight and die. Old and young. Enough is enough.

'Merkins are not at that point. Not until they are personally hit, like with a draft or such. Then they are going to whine and ask where is the ACLU or threaten to sue. Remember, 'Merkins, and especially Repugs, NEED an enemy. If there isn't one, they will make one up. If they can't make one up, they will turn on their own. It's already happening on a small scale (Santorum vs. Spector) but will get bigger. I personally am torn with what to do. If we stand up and shout the truth, then we are the enemy and their efforts are focused. If we pick and choose our battles and lay low, then they go after each other. I'd rather not to the latter because of the damage it can do "in the mean time", but it would be interesting to see what would happen.

Until then, Slava Ukraini!!! (Strength and honor to Ukraine)
