A new political party backed by left wing actors Vanessa and Corin Redgrave and the father of a Guantanamo Bay detainee is being launched.

Peace and Progress - described as "a party for human rights" - aims to put up candidates at next General Election and will be launched at a conference in London.

Its manifesto is committed to pulling British troops out of Iraq, cancelling international debt and repealing asylum legislation.

-That's the Whole Article-

Unfortunately for such an important topic, that's all there is to the entire article.

Vanessa Redgrave is a heroine in the true sense of the word. Always was, and will be to the end.

2. Why didn't they simply join the Liberal Democratic Party?
The LibDems opposed invading Iraq from the beginning.

3. Cuz they are stars? As in ABOVE us?
A large number of irrelevant parties=sign of an ailing democracy.
Whe Romania emerged from decades of dictatorship, they were 30 something parties....Think candidates for the Cali recal....The more fragmented, the less the fascists need to rig elections.

5. The Lib Dems really don't have a sharp political philosophy.
At least that's my opinion.

When people join the Lib Dems it's usually becuase they don't consider themselves Labour or Tory, and don't care much for the regional nationalist parties. It's not so much becuase they say "I know what that party stands for and those are my issues."

4. The joke will be that they're leaving "prosperity" off the name because...
...Labour has that covered.
