Which do you think is worse?

1) a so-called democracy in which elections are manipulated and stolen, with seemingly no way to prove any fraud or prevent it.

or

2) a democracy in which there are just enough stupid, gullible people to keep the country on its downward turn, while those who see the peril are powerless to convince them otherwise.

They are not mutually exclusive. The establishment keeps a large percentage of the population ignorant, but there will always be people that are too smart and skeptical to fall for it. So election fraud serves as an insurance policy to make sure the smart folks are powerless to persuade the fooled.

but if I am to choose between the horns of our present dilemma (while attempting to remain marginally sane and semi-delusionally positive) I would say that your first proposition is the more harmful as the system's legitimacy can never be called into question. Which is why I believe slogging away until we expose the corruption is so vital- no less for our own mental health.

Apathy among those who should be most motivated to work for change, and give up rather than understand that change comes only after very hard work and much sweat.

its much mre difficult to pick up those stones and build something...just curious, how much volunteer work have you done for your local Dem party? What have you done to build and shape the parties message to your liking? Have you volunteered for local platform committees or anything like that?

Don't want this to sound disrespectful or like I'm flaming you, I'm sure you're a very decent person. I just don't think it is helpful to degrade others work, especially if you haven't picked up a shovel and done some sweatin' also. We need more people in the trenches workin' and less people standing on the sidelines braying and worrying about the so-called leadership. Its the people in the trenches that "choose" the leadership.

I have nothing in common with the new southern democrats.

Most feminist, pro-choice, anti war people, don't fit in with the Democratic party in the south.
