Democrats oughta just stop believing in their ideas. |
|
You see, believing in things, having passionate convictions, just leads to candidate worship. When there is a large portion of the party who wants to stand up and finally fight some kind of ridiculously fascist idea the Republicans are pushing, inevitably some naive Democrat is going to come along and actually agree with them. This is a big problem. When that Democratic leader begins speaking out, these sad believers are just going to rush to them and deify them in their thirst for leadership. And that leads to all kinds of things, like Presidential candidacies.
So, please, people. Enough with the "I believe in civil rights" and the "don't attack countries who don't attack us" stuff. No more fighting for what's right, no more personal conviction. It puts us in a really horrible place.
Mmmmkay? Thanks!

4. Maybe fighting them is our undoing. |
|
They're such slippery bastards.
Maybe just clearly promoting a sane and civil and HONEST agenda is the key to showing how vast the differences are.
It sickens me how they sold the notion that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between Dems and Reps". I hear that alot, and it is crippling the cause.

people chose and be happy to do so. If they sell out my civil rights to win what they hell do I care? If we invade Iraq and kill the people for oil, what the hell do I care?

Good to see you back. I think they just meant that don't be bound by certain platform issues, like gun control or unions. The candidate would presumably be freed up to take any position on current events, including denouncing this war.

6. Are you referring to the original post? |

I meant that we really shouldn't believe in anything. It's dangerous. Leads to deification, you see.
You're not allowed to believe in a candidate. That's BAD.
