Could "Local Protests" offer more hope than the large ones? Is it time we
took "All Politics is Local" to heart? If CNN/MSNBC/FOX won't cover massive demonstrations in DC and NYC, Seattle, LA...does it mean that we need to do what we can "locally?"

I'm thinking about standing infront of your local Fox/Sinclair TV station with a sign. Take turns...be peaceful..but have a message that catches the eye and interest of the folks passing by. It's hard for your local police to attack one or two folks with signs with "tasers" and "handcuffs" if you don't represent a threat.

And, there are "candlelight vigils in many small and large towns in every state in America.

Plus...putting flyers out on telephone poles or taped to "Stop Signs" listing "bullet points" questioning the "Chimp-in-Thief" might be effective.

Putting leaflets and flyers of news that our "MSM" doesn't cover at your local library or at a friendly bookstore might be a way of getting dissent out.

There are many ways in our local towns, counties..we could protest but not get "targeted."

Any other thoughts on this?

1. Lots of protests and vigils in my town . . .
. . . but we're a very liberal area, so it's hard to tell whether they have an impact.

I don't know if they get covered on our local news. I don't have a TV. (Gotta have a cable to get any TV here, and I haven't been able to afford it for a long time.)

2. Many roads to victory
The old saw,"think globally ,act locally" applies. There is an equal import, imo, to large demonstrations in major cities, as well as the type of protests you mention as alternatives. In fact, I believe that the local activist work stems quite naturally from the infusion of energy that large demonstrations bring to a cause.

3. I just came from a small one in NYC.
We threw black boxes in the trash, gave flyers, held signs. Not many of us, but at least signs of life - and many were interested in reading.
Considering the wealth of "Surrender" threads I am reading here - it was refreshing.

focus on those who are worried about job loss or being thrown in jail for protesting in the Large Marches. We've reached a point that some folks are worried that they may be "targeted."

I was trying to think how some of us can do "individual, or small group" actions on our OWN TURF...and still go below the "radar" of the Bushies Fascist tactics.

Whether it's "stealth in the night" flyer posts on telephone polls or stop signs at major intersections (where one wears rubber gloves and uses a staple gun or masking tape with the gloves applied) or one drops off flyers or "talking points" at the local library or bookstore and asks that they be distributed or available there are many ways we can "participate" without being hauled into jail and handcuffed or ostrasized by our fellow employees...but how can we do this "under the radar?"

Some of us can "Mass Demonstrate" and some of us need to do activities that we feel comfortable with...but if ALL OF US are doing SOMETHING..then it means it's a BIG SOMETHING to protest in whatever way we can..and in whatever area of the US or lifestyle we are in where it's either "dangerous" or "not."

That's what I was trying to get at...might not have made it clear enough..
